Staff Backend Software Engineer

2. About the Opportunity:
The Staff Backend Software Engineer role is critical for expanding the organization''s cloud platform capabilities and enabling new product features. The position involves maintaining and scaling high-quality production services while collaborating across multiple disciplines to deliver customer-focused solutions. This role contributes directly to the company''s mission by developing robust, scalable systems that support energy efficiency and environmental goals.
3. Responsibilities:
• Develop and enhance backend cloud platform capabilities
• Maintain and scale production services with high availability and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and engineering managers
• Work alongside embedded engineers to integrate systems with hardware platforms
• Engage with partners and customers to ensure project success
• Analyze and resolve production issues using metrics and logs
• Lead projects from design through deployment and maintenance
• Advocate for engineering best practices and team collaboration
• Apply AI coding practices as relevant
4. Requirements:
• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience with relevant educational background
• Proficiency in Java, Linux, and AWS
• Experience designing REST APIs and integrating with partner systems
• Strong knowledge of security and data privacy principles in engineering
• DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering experience in production environments
• Familiarity with Cassandra, MySQL, Kafka, and Python is a plus
• Experience in energy industry or climate tech is beneficial
• Authorization to work in the US
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Compensation range: $180,000 to $200,000 annually
