2. About the Opportunity:

The Engineering Manager, Consumer leads a small team of software engineers responsible for developing scalable and reliable software systems that support the consumer product experience. This role combines technical expertise and leadership to deliver engineering solutions aligned with strategic product goals. The position involves managing team dynamics, guiding technical execution, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of user-facing and backend services.


3. Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 4-6 software engineers, including technical guidance, career development, and performance feedback

• Oversee development of user-facing experiences and backend services with robust APIs

• Collaborate with product, design, and program management teams to align technical work with product roadmaps

• Manage work across the technology stack, including Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP services, TypeScript, React, and related tools

• Facilitate agile development processes such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and one-on-ones

• Allocate resources, prioritize projects, and support hiring and onboarding processes

• Stay current with software engineering and cloud technology trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team


4. Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2-3+ years in leadership or management roles

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

• Proven ability to identify strategic opportunities and lead initiatives that improve operational excellence

• Hands-on experience building and managing scalable cloud systems (AWS/GCP), containerization, serverless technologies, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK)

• Strong software engineering skills in Python and SQL, with familiarity in TypeScript and React

• Effective leadership, communication, and mentoring skills

• Commitment to continuous learning and team development

• Ability to make decisions amid ambiguity and incomplete data


Bonuses:

• Experience in the electric power industry, IoT, or climate-tech sectors

• Experience with cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK


5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The base salary for this role is $200,000 to $240,000, determined based on experience, skills, job family, and U.S. work location
