POSITION OVERVIEW
Reimagine is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer (P.Eng.) to join our team in Edmonton. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of civil engineering and integrated design, supporting architectural projects with a focus on sustainability, First Nations partnerships, and community-centered infrastructure.
As our professional of record for civil design, you will work closely with architects, clients, consultants and project stakeholders to deliver site servicing, stormwater management, grading design, and civil infrastructure across institutional, housing, and northern/remote projects.
This role includes technical leadership, proposal writing, and business development, ideal for an engineer who wants to shape projects from concept through construction while contributing to firm growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Serve as Professional Engineer of Record for civil design across architectural projects
- Lead site servicing design, grading, stormwater management, and infrastructure coordination
- Prepare Development Permit (DP), Building Permit (BP), and related submissions according to AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements
- Coordinate civil design within integrated project delivery and multidisciplinary team environments
- Provide construction administration and site review services
- Navigate northern and remote project constraints including permafrost considerations, limited material availability, and Arctic construction logistics
Sustainability & First Nations Work
- Integrate sustainable design principles into civil infrastructure (LID approaches, climate adaptation, net-zero strategies)
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with First Nations communities and project partners
- Support culturally informed site planning and infrastructure design
- Navigate consultation processes and regulatory requirements for projects on First Nations lands
Workshop Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support and facilitate SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) framework workshops for project teams and stakeholders
- Engage clients, municipal reviewers, and community stakeholders through structured workshop formats
- Support knowledge transfer and team alignment through facilitated collaborative sessions
Proposal Writing & Business Development
- Contribute to RFP responses, technical proposals, and qualification submissions
- Develop project scopes, fee estimates, and workplans for civil engineering components
- Support client relationship development and new project pursuits
- Represent Reimagine's civil capabilities in business development activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license with APEGA (or eligible for registration transfer)
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering consulting, preferably within architectural or multidisciplinary firms
- Strong technical expertise in site grading, stormwater design, servicing, and municipal permitting processes
- Experience with Alberta (urban and rural) municipal development and servicing standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to working respectfully with Indigenous communities and diverse stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience with integrated project delivery (IPD), Design-Bid-Build, or construction management delivery models
- Knowledge of northern/remote construction challenges and solutions
- Background in sustainable civil infrastructure design (LID, green infrastructure, climate adaptation)
- Familiarity with institutional, housing, or community-focused projects
- Experience with proposal writing and project pursuit activities
- Comfortable working independently as the sole civil discipline lead while collaborating across a multidisciplinary team
- Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions, or stakeholder engagement processes
