Redwood Materials is pioneering a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into critical inputs for energy storage and next-generation battery technologies. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Product Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to join our team and play a key role in advancing new product introduction (NPI) initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations and help shape regulatory frameworks where none exist. Responsibilities include ensuring new energy storage technologies meet all relevant standards (e.g., UL, NFPA, NEC) while supporting innovative and flexible product design; simplifying complex regulatory requirements for internal teams; developing and implementing fire mitigation and testing plans; collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and product design teams; and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies and industry partners. Desired qualifications include a Bachelors degree in engineering or related field, 7+ years of experience in regulatory compliance or product certification, strong knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC codes, proven experience influencing codes and standards, exceptional communication skills, and passion for sustainability. Physical requirements and working conditions include ability to perform essential job functions safely, maintain regular attendance, work in challenging environments with PPE, occasional weekend/night/on-call work, and occasional travel. The position is full-time with a California pay range of $129,000 - $205,000 USD, with compensation commensurate with experience.
