Power Systems Modeling Engineer, Energy Storage About Redwood Materials Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recyclingkeeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, were delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.Power Systems Modeling Engineer, Energy Storage You will be an early member of the Redwood Energy engineering team, taking a hands-on role in the design, development, and integration of second-life battery-based energy storage systems. As the first Power Systems Modeling Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and validating dynamic behavioral models of various power system components. This includes development and maintenance of official dynamic models for grid interconnection studies at both the converter and plant level. You will also be responsible for integration of controls and software systems and validating their behaviors. Redwood Energy has already deployed the largest solar + storage microgrid in North America, but this is only the first step. Building models of 100 MW to GW-scale AC and DC power systems, including power converter models, energy management and site controls. Evaluate system-level requirements and translate to dynamic performance and controls specs Build and maintain reference models for Redwoods components to allow customers, utilities, and other stakeholders to include Redwoods products in their modeling. Collaborate with our project engineering team and our customers engineers and site-specific analysis. Perform failure-mode & effects analysis (FMEA) to discover design weaknesses and devise mitigation strategies.
