Rainforest Alliance, a New York-based 501(c)3, and UTZ, an Amsterdam-based foundation, merged in 2018. Together, the new Rainforest Alliance is now a $70 million per year organization with offices in 17 countries (and growing) and over 5000 staff. Overview

We are looking for a collaborative Consultant (Communications) who is responsible for supporting the coordination and carrying out communication activities in Rainforest Alliance’s project: Transforming agricultural systems and strengthening local economies in high biodiversity areas of India through sustainable landscape management and public-private finance, funded by the Global Environment Facility.


The Consultant, Communications, will support the project by working with Rainforest Alliance staff, GEF partners, and stakeholders to build a range of communications products that support the project´s results-based management and reporting over the project´s lifetime. The position includes training and advising technical staff, partners, and field consultants on communication methods, tools and processes, and knowledge management; and reporting (e.g.: infographics) on the key findings. The Consultant, Communications, is also expected to coordinate closely with other Rainforest Alliance Asia Pacific communications units.


Main Objectives


Coordinate and oversee all IEC activities related to GEF India – Landscapes Project :

  • Provide creative inputs and coordinate with stakeholders for development of IEC content, including media plan for IEC product dissemination.
  • Identify and undertake the creative development of key messages that need to be included in communication materials for the project.

  • Advise on the appropriate mix of materials to be developed as per the specific request for the other communication campaigns and creating prototypes/artworks.

  • Coordinate review of IEC/BCC activities of the stakeholders /partners.

  • Coordinate development of creative graphics and content suitable for social media such as Facebook, You tube, Twitter etc. based on requirements of the project

  • Coordinate development of the following: ˗ Annual Report, Newsletter, Reports, etc

  • Make the Information Education Communication/Behavioral Change Communication Repository available online and coordinate with project requirements.

  • Support organizing IEC activities in exhibitions and fairs such as Trade Fairs and others.

  • Any other work related to communications based on Project requirements.


Deliverables

  • Coordinate with project staff and RySS and partners in Karnataka for Printed materials such as leaflets, banners, flyers, fact sheets distributed during events, design for Technical manuals, etc

  • Contribute to the design and communication support of various studies planned as part of the project – like the project´s mid-term and end-of-project reviews and case studies of project achievements.

  • Curate photos, videos on project progress and results

  • Finalization of project reports – based on RA communication and branding guidelines.

  • Based on Project Communication Strategy, undertake steps to execute the plan and generate wider dissemination about achievement.

Selection Criteria

  • Communication Graduate with Post Graduate degree in Mass communication/Journalism from a reputed and recognized institution.

  • Minimum 5+ Years work experience in Public Sector communication. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in Media units at the National or State level.

  • Well-versed with recent IEC activities in the development sector, including Social Media platform priority activities.

  • Ability to work in a highly demanding environment, liaising with stakeholders and partners.

  • Computer proficiency with a high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, Power Point and web surfing to search relevant data documents.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Kanada or Telugu will be an additional advantage.

  • Ability to travel locally at least 30% of the time.
