As a Human Resources (HR) Generalist Europe, you will handle every aspect of the employee life cycle, while working closely with staff to ensure their needs are met. The People Operations team is diverse and multicultural, with different educational and professional backgrounds, driving operational excellence and contributing to a great employee experience. We are seeking an HR Generalist who is not only resilient and adaptable in dynamic environments but also demonstrates initiative, thinks outside the box, and has a strong solution-oriented mindset.

Under the supervision of the HR Manager Europe, the HR Generalist will be accountable for a broad range of HR functions related to hiring, onboarding, remuneration, and benefits (in close collaboration with the payroll consultant). The HR Generalist also maintains oversight of personnel file archiving, ensures compliance with both HR-related internal rules and national legislation, and manages information in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for all staff in Europe. The HR Generalist collaborates closely with other HR colleagues for specific HR projects and will play an integral role in supporting employee wellbeing initiatives.

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach, creative problem-solving skills, and a passion for building trust-based partnerships with employees and managers across the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer contracting of new hires in Europe;
  • Ensure that onboarding processes are well implemented, in close coordination with the Hiring Manager;
  • Control the monthly payroll and statutory deductions, and support the preparation and implementation of a global payroll system;
  • Ensure that staff data, including salaries (and benefits), are accurately reported in HRIS;
  • Administer staff local and global benefits, ensuring that labor laws and guidelines are respected, and train staff on the same;
  • Ensure proper registration of leave/absences and support the preparation and implementation of the time off module in HRIS;
  • Ensure that offboarding processes are well implemented according to standard guidelines;
  • Provide proactive support on wellbeing initiatives and employee engagement activities, thinking creatively to foster a positive work culture;
  • Advise the Manager, Human Resources Europe, and legal teams on issues related to non-compliance with HR guidelines and anticipate issues that may affect the delivery of HR services;
  • Offer innovative, out-of-the-box solutions for HR challenges, always maintaining a forward-thinking, solution-oriented approach;
  • Keep the Employee Handbook up to date in line with local labor law and Rainforest Alliance rules and regulations;
  • Ensure that staff files are up to date, following local and global guidelines;
  • Provide support to and coordinate staff group activities such as team retreats and team buildings, and
  • Any other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional human resources experience required;
  • Knowledge and experience of working with European labor law and associated administrative requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals;
  • Proactive, self-starter attitude with strong problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box;
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time-critical manner;
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English and Dutch. Proficiency in French is an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, with solid experience in HRIS administration systems;
  • Resilience to change and a proactive attitude towards supporting employee wellbeing initiatives;
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 20% per year, nationally and internationally;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially, and
  • Experience in an international environment is required.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
