quasar energy group is an Independence, Ohio based renewable energy company.  We design, build, own, and operate anaerobic digestion facilities and alternative fueling stations.  quasar’s systems improve the regional environment by diverting organic waste from landfills and incinerators, and processing it naturally to produce clean, renewable energy used for electricity, compressed natural gas (CNG), pipeline quality gas, and nutrient-rich soil amendments.

 

The position is best suited for an energetic individual who enjoys the challenge of working for a start-up company in a new industry.  Quasar’s standards for performance are high – we are looking for a candidate that can proactively come into this role with the experience and skills required to successfully implement the requisite tasks.

 

Summary:

 

The Senior Staff Accountant, with the expectation of being the Assistant Controller, is responsible for helping manage of the Accounting Department.  The position analyzes financial information and assists with preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other financial activities within quasar.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Help prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Report to management regarding the finances of the company and various locations.
  • Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger transactions, and reconciles accounts monthly for accuracy and to ensure adherence to GAAP and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Direct, coordinate, and train the Accounting Staff to facilitate and manage required deadlines.
  • Ensure that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the organization.
  • Responsible for the reporting of all government census, surveys, and compliance reporting.
  • Monitors and tracks all billing and costs for all legal obligations and contracted projects monthly and/or as needed.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and analysis of budgets and preparing periodic budget reports.
  • Following changes in regulations and compiling reports regarding compliance issues, standards, and accounting practices.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in all aspects of accounting is required.
  • Experience with Dynamics or other accounting software is required.
  • Understanding of federal grant reporting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to work well with others.
  • Solid Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial reporting, etc.)
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
