SUMMARY

The Materials Manager will oversee the management of receiving and quality processes, warehouse inventory, and site materials in a fast-paced solar EPC environment. The role will optimize our inventory system, ensure consistent supply chain flow, and contribute to our efficiency and cost reduction and schedule objectives. This role requires strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.

The right candidate must understand all the project procurement phases including request for proposal, purchase order acceptance, expediting, incoterms and logistics. They must track and report out material locations, RMA’s and bulk order issuance and re order points to ensure the project continues smoothly.

This position reports to the Director of Procurement, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position reports to the Teaneck, NJ office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and the Teaneck, NJ office. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 25% of the time.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures related to safe accurate material handling at both warehouse and client sites.
  • Oversee and manage inventory levels, supply chain logistics, and procurement processes to ensure receipt and issuance of materials.
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand and ensure availability of materials while minimizing excessive inventories.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Implement cost reduction strategies in material purchasing and handling without compromising quality and service.
  • Facilitate the receipt, segregation, authorized return, and or replacement of non compliant materials to the warehouse and or site locations.
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends and technology to improve material handling processes.
  • The day-to-day activities of a Materials Manager involve various tasks that keep the production chain moving smoothly:
  • Forecasting the demand for materials based on production needs and historical trends.
  • Purchasing materials and negotiating cost-effective deals with suppliers.
  • Inspecting and verifying incoming and stored materials for quality and quantity.
  • Developing and implementing inventory management systems that reduce wastage and optimize storage.
  • Collaborating with other departments such as production, finance, and quality control to ensure that material requirements are met.
  • Preparing detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments for upper man
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field.
  • At least five (5)years (ten 10 years in leu of education) of experience in a materials management role in a manufacturing of EPC setting.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and any relevant materials management software.
  • APICS CPIM certification is preferred
