We are seeking a results driven and collaborative technical program manager to partner with engineering teams and stakeholders to achieve the successful development of novel solutions within Hanwha Qcells' Advanced Systems R&D Center. This role is based in our office in Santa Clara, California.
This is a critical leadership role within our Global Technology organization, which is responsible for the architecture, design and optimization of power conversion and storage systems used in all sectors of the renewable energy market. This individual will provide leadership and support across all phases of research and technology development, with a focus on driving successful on-time delivery of programs that meet KPIs within their budget and resource utilization targets.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with research and development engineering teams to define program schedules, KPIs, budgets and resource plans; and manage these items throughout the program lifecycle.
- Manage programs in accordance with Qcells' technology development process framework including:
- Ensuring program schedules are established in accordance with the process framework.
- Facilitating the lead up to phase gate reviews and ensuring required deliverables and documents are complete.
- Hosting phase gate reviews, and documenting results.
- Collaborating with program teams to optimize the development process.
- Lead meetings with program teams and stakeholders, fostering collaboration across the organization.
- Regularly scheduled meetings – periodic team meetings & phase/gate approval meetings
- Ad-hoc meetings to address specific topics and issues as they arise
- Track and follow up on action items.
- Facilitate reporting of program status across the organization
- Track program KPI and progress towards milestones and budget
- Periodic reports (i.e. weekly & monthly reports).
- Manage program risks in conjunction with the engineering teams and stakeholders
- Identify program risks and actively track these risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Address issues when they arise with resolution plans.
- As needed, escalate risks, issues or roadblocks to ensure program success.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years of hardware program management experience.
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or other technical field
- Demonstrated expertise in hardware development lifecycle management, with a comprehensive grasp of development processes and stage gate methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills; including oral and written.
- Detailed-oriented, excellent planning and organization skills.
- Ability to build partnerships and drive decision-making with cross-functional stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMI certification in project and/or program management
- Solid understanding of the fundamentals of residential and utility scale renewable energy systems.
- Strong technical background in hardware development, excellent problem-solving ability, customer obsession, and passion for leading product research & development programs.
- Fast learner with the ability to work through ambiguity who thrives in fast-paced and multifaceted environments and can deliver within defined timeframes.
- High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) specifically being a great active listener and communicator, who can convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to various levels of leadership.
- Demonstrated track record of building strong partnerships and leading by influence.
- Ability to communicate complex information/situations in a clear and concise manner to all levels and translate technical details into non-technical terms.
- Ability to develop oneself and their people to their full potential.
- Ability to lead teams through change processes and to collaborate globally in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work with and across all global resources (Korea, Europe, US).
