Senior Engineering Manager - Fleet Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Fleet Manager team to lead the development of Fleet Manager, our comprehensive web platform for asset management, real-time monitoring, and analytics across distributed solar and energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in overseeing a full-stack engineering team focused on delivering scalable and reliable web applications and will work closely with distributed engineering teams in US, Korea, and India. This position will be based out of Santa Clara or Irvine.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for Fleet Manager, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability across thousands of sites and millions of data points.
- Architect and maintain a modern web stack using technologies such as React, microservice APIs, and event-driven backends.
- Integrate with Qcells’ shared data & IoT platform, supporting real-time alerting, analytics, and grid service operations.
- Champion best practices in full-stack development, including CI/CD, observability, and secure API design.
Engineering Excellence
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and operational excellence across all tooling teams.
- Implement metrics and KPIs to measure developer productivity and tool effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical rigor.
Team Management & Execution
- Lead a full-stack engineering team focused on web development and cloud integration.
- Support globally distributed teams in Korea and India, fostering a strong async-first culture.
- Demonstrate willingness to work flexible hours that create overlap with engineers in Korea and India for 1:1s, planning, and technical discussions.
- Provide career development support for direct reports, including mentoring, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure alignment with team goals and delivery standards.
- Drive agile execution, sprint planning, and delivery of high-quality software.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management, UX/UI, QA, Customer Support, and Backend Platform to deliver user-centric solutions.
- Coordinate with the Shared Cloud IoT Backend team to ensure robust telemetry and device management.
- Collaborate with energy service partners and internal stakeholders to support advanced grid integration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in engineering management.
- Proven experience building and scaling web platforms with modern frontend and backend technologies.
- Expertise in cloud architecture, microservices, and real-time data processing.
- Experience with role-based access control, SSO, and enterprise-grade security practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working across time zones and cultures; experience with remote-first teams.
- Travel may be required up to 10%, depending on business needs.

- Solar Industry experience (Renewable)
- Asset / inventory management experience
- Microsoft Azure experiences
- Direct experience in connected devices or field services
- Bilingual in Korean and English
