POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer at Hanwha Q CELLS America, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring the reliability and quality of our Residential Energy Management software solutions, including Fleet Manager and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Manager applications. You will focus on software quality assurance, end-to-end/system test strategy, and validation processes across web, mobile, and embedded systems that interact with residential energy hardware. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining high product standards—working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, field operations, and customer support teams—to detect issues early, improve test coverage, and deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences and high data quality across platforms. This role reports to the Sr. Director Quality, Cloud Infra and CS and is based in the Santa Clara Bay Area, CA. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm (with flexibility to adjust to 9:00am to 6:00pm as needed). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to support release cycles or critical issues. There is no expectation to travel for this position at the moment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In this role you will be responsible for System testing and automation of Qcells products and provide support for Customers as L3.
  • You will work along-side a cross functional team comprising of Product, UX Design, Software Development, Data Science, DevOps and cross shore teams located globally specifically India, Australia and Korea
  • You will report to the Sr. Director Quality, Cloud Infra and CS and will potentially supervise other QA engineers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of experience working with Cloud based software solutions utilizing AWS/Azure/GCP in the capacity of a developer or a SDET.
  • Possesses a curiosity to understand and comprehends how systems have been built architecturally and is able to put the pieces of the puzzles together.
  • Proficiency in Java/ Python/ Ruby or any other programming/scripting language
  • Solid Experience in REST API testing and Microservices centric testing
  • Experience in leveraging SQL skills to write complex queries to validate data with a focus on data quality and accuracy
  • Experience implementing full stack automation from Continuous Integration to Continuous deployment & delivery. Experience with Jenkins, TeamCity or equivalent CI/CD tools.
  • Experience in industry standard configuration management best practices and exposure to version control tools like GIT, Github, Bitbucket, SVN, etc.
  • Good knowledge of UNIX variants like LINUX (hosted on cloud)
  • Solid understanding and experience with Industry standard best practices in Software Quality Engineering processes, tools and methodologies
  • Hands-on working experience with collaboration and defect tracking tools like – Slack, Confluence, Atlassian JIRA etc.
  • Candidate must be able to translate production requirements to comprehensive test plans, cases & drive them through execution and successful closure.
  • Be thorough and detailed oriented in seeing bugs through closure
  • Must be an excellent team player who can influence and get their initiatives to fruition.
  • Must have a Penchant desire to upskill continuously
  • Must have the ability to design and develop test automation frameworks from scratch
  • Candidates with knowledge of the energy domain, IOT and/or regulated utility markets are strongly preferred

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
