Manager, Grid & Energy Service Development - CAISO Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Qcells is looking for an experienced CAISO Registration Specialist to handle the registration process for Demand Response Provider (DRP), Distributed Energy Resource Provider (DERP), and Scheduling Coordinator (SC) activities. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with CAISO (California Independent System Operator) regulations, managing the necessary registrations, and facilitating communication between our company and CAISO. This position reports to the Head of Grid & Energy Service Development or another senior leader that the President of the Company may designate. This position is based out of our San Francisco office, with an in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the Company’s policies. Remote options could be considered for exceptional cases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the registration process for DRP, DERP, and SC with CAISO.
- Coordinate and prepare all documentation required for CAISO registration, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams (operations, technical, and regulatory) to ensure all operational data, system specifications, and documentation meet CAISO standards.
- Monitor and manage deadlines for registration renewals, updates, and compliance reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for CAISO inquiries, addressing any registration issues, and ensuring timely responses to their requests.
- Support the development and submission of reports to CAISO, including but not limited to performance data and compliance documents.
- Ensure that all relevant internal teams (engineering, project management, etc.) are kept informed of CAISO registration updates, deadlines, and regulatory changes.
- Review and assess the impact of changes in CAISO policies, regulations, and market rules on the company’s registrations and operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CAISO market participation requirements and ensure Qcells remains compliant with all applicable standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience working with CAISO, particularly in the areas of DRP, DERP, and Scheduling Coordinator registrations.
- In-depth knowledge of CAISO registration processes and market rules.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with regulatory bodies, internal teams, and external partners.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple deadlines and tasks.
- Proficiency in relevant regulatory compliance and reporting tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex issues related to CAISO registration.
