POSITION DESCRIPTION:


We are seeking a strategic and collaborativeSenior Power Electronics Systems Engineer to lead development of novel solutions within Hanwha Qcells’ Advanced Systems R&D Center. This role is Remote Based. Georgia location is preferred.

This is a critical leadership role within our Global Technology organization, that is responsible for the architecture, design, and optimization of high-power conversion systems used in large-scale renewable energy applications. This individual will contribute technical leadership across multiple phases of product development—concept modeling, prototyping, validation, and transition to commercial deployment—with a focus on maximizing system efficiency, reliability, and compliance with US grid standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize renewable energy systems (solar PV, wind turbines, hydroelectric, etc.) and definition of power electronics subsystem components
  • Lead projects from concept through prototype, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Develop control systems and grid integration strategies for renewable sources
  • Simulate and model power systems using tools like ETAP, PSCAD, or MATLAB/Simulink
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale energy projects
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and electrical standards
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in developing power electronics systems for renewable energy systems (utility-scale experience preferred).
  • Proven experience with high-power inverter and DC/DC converter design (100 kW+).

Skills

  • Strong understanding of grid-connected power systems and renewable energy integration.
  • Strong understanding of energy storage and smart grid concepts as well as grid codes and relevant standards (e.g., IEC 62109, IEEE 1547, UL 1741).
  • Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Experience with power system simulation and modeling tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, PVSYST, or MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with project and team management
  • Experience mentoring younger engineers
  • Familiarity with semiconductor devices (IGBT, MOSFET, SiC, GaN), magnetics design, and thermal management.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
