ABOUT THE ROLE:
- The Offering Development Team is seeking a self-motivated and experienced subject matter expert to develop Product Automation Tools and Workflows essential to rapid HES systems deployments, of high quality and reliability, complete with fast financing approval turnaround. This position must be adept with Excel models, data handling, and Work Automation suites like Monday.com. The preferred candidate is also capable of larger dataset processing using Python in Excel.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer is versed on all technologies that Qcells approves for AVL inclusion and deployment via HES. This role is adept at creating technical product comparison tables and compatibility matrices to enable automatic and correct equipment matching for finance approval.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer will work closely with Product SMEs, Marketing, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure any workflows, SOP, or processes implemented are enabling customers or suppliers to interact with Qcells in a timely and trackable with path to resolution.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer may provide onsite and/or remote training to internal/external stakeholders on new and existing product automations tools, workflows, or intake forms.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer provides training to service staff on best practices for identifying and resolving issues and related to product automation tools and workflow usage and maintenance in accordance with HES offerings and AVL guidelines.
- When delegated, via case escalation process, Product Automations SME will support, product teams, marketing, or sales in resolving customer issues in a timely manner related to product automation works.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer practices document control of all pertinent files generated with revision and date codes.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer keeps up to date on relevant technical knowledge and participates in educational training of new Product Automations technologies and stays up to date on PV, Inverter, and BESS product launches.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer will work closely with engineering, quality, procurement, field ops, and customer support teams to ensure Product Automations vendor intake processes for AVL selection that meet technical, operational, and financial needs.
- The Product Capability & Automations Engineer participates and helps define Product Automations RFP requirements to drive best technical and commercial outcomes
As the Product Capability & Automations Engineer, you will be providing important recommendations for Product Automations Services that will be used by both customers and suppliers. This position will be developing forms, workflows, and SOPs for data and equipment tracking and AVL due diligence reasons.
The Product Capability & Automations Engineer will also contribute to a product-compatibility-matrix buildup to enable fast approval or rejection of submitted systems. This will enable synergy between Qcells in-house hardware products and HES downstream offerings, ensuring that our products are designed, packaged, and positioned to deliver maximum value across TPO, Loan, and new HES business lines.
The SME in this role may interact with many groups at Qcells including marketing, sales, EnFin, Axia, New Homes, product management, development, engineering, and deployment organizations in both HQCA and Hanwha Qcells Korea.
In addition, this role may also include compiling technical hardware market research and balance of system cost values research to assist in techno economic modeling to justify product combinations.
Strong preference is for candidates with previous solar and storage experience and an electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or science degree. Solar business operations knowledge and regulatory and policy experience are also highly desired.
This position is remote, US based, and requires flexibility to support travel for multiple projects in various geographical regions up to 25% of the year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vendor Strategy & Qualification
- Compare and Decide between any internal and external Product Automation platforms to establish Product Automations vendor qualification framework of intake forms and due diligence tracking boards (e.g. Monday.com)
- Manage Product Automations vendor evaluation process comprising but not limited to: Vendor onboarding, auditing, and ongoing performance management to remain on AVL.
- Create and Maintain the Product Automations intake and due-diligence tracking tools that enable standard path for Approved Vendor List (AVL) approval by suppliers, following clear criteria and a structured review process.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, procurement, field ops, and customer support teams to ensure Product Automations product selections meet technical, operational, and financial needs.
- Participate in Product Automations RFPs and strategic vendor negotiations in collaboration with legal and procurement.
- Assist in monitor Product Automations quality, track OEM warranty claims, and vendor delivery performance through structured KPIs using product automation tools.
Cross-Functional Operationalization
- Collaborate across departments to implement Product Automations tools and workflows to manage vendors products.Work with leadership to translate operational processes and SOPs to align with AVL and HES offerings.
- Participate in cross-team implementation of qualification standards, change management, and continuous improvement cycles.
- Support training, documentation, and system integration efforts needed to implement, utilize Product Automations vendor standards across the organization.
Product Integration & Internal Hardware Alignment
- Support Product Automations product ‘bridge activities‘ between our in-house hardware manufacturing teams and downstream HES business units.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and R&D to influence the next generation of Product Automations hardware based on customer feedback, market trends, and installation experience.
- Participate in cross-functional projects that align product roadmap, operational readiness, and customer value.
- Help articulate the business case for product differentiation based on downstream integration (e.g., faster installs, lower costs, better performance in TPO context).
QUALIFICATION:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent science or engineering discipline. Alternatively, significant solar Product Automations experience combined with an Electrical Journeyman’s license, Masters license, or proof of having completed a department of Labor (D.O.L.) approved electrical apprenticeship could be considered.

PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with solar and storage standards such as UL, NEC, IEEE, or utility interconnection regulations.
- NABCEP certified
- Product Automations installation and troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce software
- Experience with work automation platforms like Monday.com
- Familiarity with AI Content drafting and review
- Passion for building scalable, high-impact clean energy solutions with measurable customer value.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
