POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Qcells is seeking a passionate and results-driven Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Program Manager to lead the design, launch, and continuous improvement of VPP programs across the U.S. You will play a key role in helping distributed energy resources (DERs) deliver grid services, create value for customers, and support utility partners. This role requires strategic thinking, strong execution, and effective teamwork across departments
This position will be based out of Irvine, San Francisco or Santa Clara, CA

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and launch new VPP programs aligned with Qcells’ profit modeling, asset owner needs, and utility/grid operator requirements.
  • Build and optimize end-to-end program processes, including resource registration, customer enrollment, compliance, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to establish workflows that support program execution.
  • Continuously improve program operations with a focus on automation, accuracy, and customer impact.
  • Manage and evolve the roadmap for Qcells’ VPP programs, with a focus on DER monetization and market opportunities.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy systems, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in VPP, DER, Demand Response, or energy market program management.
  • Direct experience working with or for utilities, VPP aggregators, or grid service providers.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and grid integration requirements for DERs or storage systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. utility electricity market structures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of regulatory trends and decarbonization goals in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of energy software platforms such as DERMS, SCADA, or EMS.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing or customer acquisition teams to support program outreach and engagement.
  • Proficiency in tools like Tableau, Power BI, or SQL for program analytics.
  • Basic software or automation skills (e.g., Python, APIs) are a plus

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
