SUMMARY
The SCADA Engineer Level 3 is responsible for SCADA system design, integration, and troubleshooting for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role requires proficiency in programming relays, SCADA communication protocols, IT networks, and cybersecurity principles.
The Engineer Level 3 will take ownership of SCADA configurations, testing, and commissioning support, ensuring that systems function securely and reliably. This position reports to the Sr SCADA and Controls Engineering Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO may designate. This position is located remotely and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 30%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
SCADA System Development & Integration
- Lead SCADA system architecture, configuration, and programming for large-scale PV and BESS assets.
- Perform relay and control device programming, ensuring optimal plant performance.
- Implement SCADA communication protocols, including Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850, for seamless data transfer.
- Develop network security measures and cybersecurity compliance strategies to protect SCADA infrastructure.
- Oversee SCADA documentation, including system diagrams, control logic configurations, and security policies.
Technical & Engineering Expertise
- Troubleshoot SCADA communication failures, control system malfunctions, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
- Provide technical expertise during SCADA system testing, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site commissioning.
- Work with SCADA, EMS, and HMI tools to optimize plant monitoring and automation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
- Interface with EPC contractors, vendors, and utilities to ensure SCADA compliance with project specifications.
- Support interconnection and permitting documentation related to SCADA system approvals.
Continuous Learning & Skill Development
- Stay updated on advanced SCADA security measures, automation best practices, and networking advancements.
- Contribute to research and development (R&D) initiatives to enhance SCADA performance and efficiency.
Additional Duties
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in SCADA, control systems, or IT networking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering, Master’s preferred.
- Proficiency in:
- Programming relays and control devices.
- SCADA systems and protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850)
- IT networks and cybersecurity principles.
- Electrical generation and control systems for utility-scale solar or BESS projects.
- Proficient in Visio or similar tools.
- Certifications: SCADA or automation certifications preferred.
