POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an HR Specialist, Compliance & Benefits, to join our HR Office to assist with managing and supporting the HR Operations team in HR Compliance and Benefits across multiple business units. This role is responsible for monitoring and managing internal HR compliance to ensure policies, training, and internal/external audit support are compliant with federal and state laws and regulations. Additionally, this role will assist as needed with leave of absence and benefit administration.
This position reports to the HR Manager of People Operations for Energy Solutions and will be based out of our Irvine office (Hybrid schedules will be considered based on geo location.)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the People Operations functions, such as benefits, HR compliance, annual audits and other HR duties. Advise and recommend best practices to leadership to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as the backup for leave of absence and benefits administration to support business continuity during absences, peak periods, or as needed.
- Assist with maintaining and regularly updating the employee handbook to reflect changes in federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
- Monitor general HR, Benefits, & Payroll compliance to ensure the Company is compliant with all applicable employment laws and regulations, ensuring policies and procedures are current, effectively communicated to employees as well as identify and escalate discrepancies as needed.
- Coordinate and manage all mandatory state and federal training (e.g., harassment prevention, workplace safety), tracking completion and ensuring timely delivery across all locations.
- Assist with internal compliance audits, report generation, and review, by gathering required documentation and maintaining accurate records of HR practices and policies.
- Lead in the development, draft creation, and communication of new HR policies and procedures to support compliance and organizational alignment.
- Partner with legal, HR leadership, and department heads to address compliance gaps and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
- Coordinate internal and external audits in partnership with vendors and the Corporate Finance team, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and resolution of audit inquiries related to HR Compliance, Benefits, and Payroll.
- Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs and leadership direction; other related duties may be assigned as part of ongoing department or company restructuring.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive work experience working in an HR capacity including 2-3+ years of HR work experience with strong proficiency in Compliance, Leave Administration, & Benefits.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools. (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience with training and communicating with employee groups.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong understanding and thorough knowledge of employment-related compliance pertaining to federal and state laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in renewable energy, technology, or related fast-paced industries preferred
- PHR/PHR-CA/SHRM - CP certifications preferred.
- Advanced degree

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
