SUMMARY

The Director of BESS Sales will serve as a senior leader responsible for driving Qcells’ growth strategy within the rapidly expanding utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) market.

This role demands a highly strategic and technically proficient executive capable of building trust at the C-suite and VP level of utility, developer, and IPP organizations. This individual will influence business strategy, identify and unlock new market opportunities, structure and close complex commercial transactions, and directly contribute to the evolution of Qcells’ product and service offerings in the storage sector. The ideal candidate is a proven commercial leader with a deep technical background, exceptional relationship management skills, a track record of closing high-value transactions, and the executive presence to represent Qcells with top-tier industry stakeholders. This position reports to the Vice President of Commercial Strategy, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is Hybrid based out of Houston, TX and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 40%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION &
RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of Qcells’ national BESS go-to-market strategy, informed by direct customer engagement, competitive intelligence, and market trends.
  • Originate, nurture, and convert a pipeline of high-value BESS opportunities across utilities, IPPs, and developers, aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for strategic customers, building executive-level relationships and positioning Qcells as the preferred BESS partner.
  • Structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial transactions, including standalone storage systems, hybrid solar-plus-storage projects, and tolling or capacity agreements.
  • Drive internal alignment to ensure customer solutions are technically optimized, commercially competitive, and financially bankable.
  • Analyze and synthesize customer feedback, market dynamics, and regulatory developments to provide actionable insights that influence product strategy, business models, and commercial priorities.
  • Represent Qcells at industry conferences, forums, and strategic engagements to enhance market visibility and reinforce the company’s leadership in utility-scale energy storage.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure CRM systems, sales forecasts, and executive reporting are accurate, timely, and strategically valuable.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior commercial team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Systems, or related field) required; Master's degree in Engineering, Energy, or an MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in utility-scale BESS or renewable energy solution with a strong preference for candidates who have experience as field engineers and/or project managers
  • Demonstrated success in leading and closing multi-million-dollar utility-scale storage or hybrid transactions.
  • Deep technical understanding of BESS systems, controls, grid interconnection requirements, warranty structures, and performance guarantees.
  • Exceptional business acumen with a deep understanding of project economics, financing structures, and risk allocation mechanisms.
  • Executive-level relationship management skills with a proven ability to influence at all levels of customer organizations.
  • Strong internal leadership capability with the ability to mobilize and align cross-functional teams toward customer success.

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
