SENIOR DIRECTOR OF TRANSMISSION/DISTRIBUTION & COMMISSIONING

SUMMARY
This position is accountable for overseeing the commissioning process of electrical systems and managing the transmission and distribution of electrical power.
The successful candidate will oversee the commissioning and operations of substation and solar projects. The candidate will lead a team of engineers, technicians and project managers
This position will report to the Head of Self-Perform Construction. This position will be in-office or hybrid.
The Senior Director will report to the Head of Operation 1 of Hanwha Q CELLS USA Corp., or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is hybrid (unless located in Ankeny, IA) and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 25%.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commissioning:
- Lead and manage the commissioning team to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and protocols
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution
- Conduct site inspections and performance testing to verify system functionality and compliance
- Troubleshoot and resolver any issues that arise during the commissioning process
- Ensure all projects meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Provide Technical guidance and support to the commissioning team.
- Prepare and present commissioning reports to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies and best practices.
- Transmission and Distribution Oversight:
- Manage the design, construction, and maintenance of transmission and distribution lines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support.
- Assign personnel to various project phases and ensure effective collaboration.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns or issues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in solar energy or a related industry
- Proven track record of successfully commissioning large scale solar projects.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Possess strong interpersonal, analytical, solutions-building, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company.
- In-depth knowledge in the various types of contract and ability to negotiate the contracts with the client.
- Team player and a willingness to learn.
- Deadline-oriented with an ability to prioritize tasks.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic environment.
- Diligent and professional work ethics.
