Job Description & Summary
A career within Economics and Policy services will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside clients to develop sophisticated and compelling economic analysis to inform strategic choices and guide their development of policy. We focus on helping clients make better decisions by providing business insights grounded in evidence by combining financial and economic assessments, cost benefit analysis, policy reviews, and programme evaluations across the different industries and sectors.

This role is suited for candidates who are analytically driven and want to work at the intersection of economics, climate, sustainability, and public policy. The role involves hands-on quantitative and qualitative analysis, policy and regulatory work, and direct exposure to government-linked clients and corporates in Malaysia and the region.

Alongside this, you will be exposed to Deals‑related assignments, where economic, policy, regulatory, and climate considerations are material to transactions. This includes supporting ESG and climate‑related due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investments, helping clients identify, assess, and understand policy‑, regulatory‑, and climate‑driven risks and opportunities that may affect valuation, deal structuring, and post‑transaction strategy.


As a Senior Associate, you will play a handson role in quantitative and qualitative analysis, work closely with a multidisciplinary team of problem solvers and contribute directly to client engagements from strategy to execution. You will engage with governmentlinked entities, regulators, investors, and corporates, translating complex analysis into clear, decisionrelevant insights. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:

Role specific 
  • Conduct macroeconomic, climate, and sustainability analysis and research to support policy, regulatory, and public sector–focused advisory engagements, including climate and sustainability policy advisory, regulatory impact assessments, energy transition strategies, climate finance, carbon markets, and public finance. 
  • Develop, adapt, and apply economic and climate models to analyse trends, assess policy and regulatory impacts, and evaluate economic and climate scenarios relevant to national, sectoral, and thematic policy and sectoral questions. 
  • Prepare highquality analytical reports, policy papers, presentations, and technical documentation that communicate insights, implications, and recommendations to government, public sector, and corporate stakeholders. 
  • Undertake indepth research and analysis of climate, energy, and sustainability policy developments, regulatory frameworks, and market trends, with a strong focus on Malaysia and the regional context. 
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support the delivery of policy and regulatory advisory engagements, including synthesising inputs across economic, technical, market trends, and sectoral workstreams. 
  • Participate in client meetings, briefings, and discussions, contributing policy and analysisdriven insights to support decisionmaking. 
  • Provide targeted analytical support to transactionrelated workstreams, including ESG and climaterelated due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investments, where sustainability or climate risks and opportunities are material. 
  • Support business development efforts through opportunity identification, proposal preparation, and selective participation in thought leadership and marketing initiatives. 

Skills, experience and qualifications 
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in climate and sustainability analysis, economics and public policy advisory, energy transition, or related analytical roles. 
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Economics, Public Policy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, or a related discipline. 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including experience with economic or climate modelling, policy or impact analysis, statistical analysis, and/or financial analysis. 
  • Ability to synthesise complex quantitative and qualitative information and translate analysis into clear, structured, and decisionrelevant written and verbal outputs. 
  • Strong attention to detail, sound organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines effectively. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); experience with any climate modelling tools is an advantage. 
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary, teambased environments. 
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and sound ethical judgement in client engagements. 
  • Familiarity and interest with Malaysian and global economic, climate, energy, and sustainability policies, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics is highly desirable.
