The opportunity

 As a Climate Risk and Resilience, Senior Associate you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. This role will be based in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto, with a preference for bilingual candidates. 

You will work at the intersection of climate science, data analytics, and business strategy, partnering with some of Canada’s largest organizations to deliver climate risk insights and drive meaningful progress on climate resilience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver climate risk, scenario analysis, and adaptation focused analyses across multiple client engagements, often in parallel, as part of multidisciplinary consulting teams
  • Apply climate science, data analytics, and modelling techniques to assess physical climate hazards, financial and operational impacts, and future climate risks and opportunities
  • Develop and apply climate hazard models (e.g., flood, drought, wildfire, extreme wind) using climate projections and earth observation data to assess asset level exposure, vulnerability, and risk
  • Support clients in the development and evaluation of climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, including cost benefit analysis and prioritization of response options
  • Translate complex climate risk analyses into clear, decision relevant insights and recommendations to inform business, investment, and policy decisions
  • Produce high-quality, client ready deliverables, including technical reports, dashboards, and executive level presentations tailored to different stakeholder audiences
  • Contribute to internal and external thought leadership on climate risk, resilience, and adaptation, and support the continued development of PwC’s climate risk methodologies

Experiences And Skills You’ll Use To Solve

We are looking for someone who is curious and showing a willingness to learn and take on responsibility. Qualified candidates must have:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Climate Science, Climate Change, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Science, Geoinformatics, or a related quantitative or applied discipline
  • Experience contributing to consulting or advisory work in climate data, climate risk, or climate adaptation
  • Strong climate science foundation, including experience working with climate datasets and models (e.g., GCMs, RCMs), ensemble analysis, uncertainty quantification
  • Handson experience conducting climate risk and opportunity assessments, such as physical risk, transition risk, and adaptation considerations, and translating findings into business relevant outcomes
  • Climate science knowledge including using climate datasets and models (e.g., ERA, GCMs, RCMs, etc.), ensemble analysis, uncertainty quantification, and climate model downscaling
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, GIS, Microsoft Excel and PowerBI for data analysis, modelling, data visualization, geospatial analysis and remote sensing applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience translating complex climate science and data driven insights into clear, decision relevant messages for executive and nontechnical audiences

The salary range for this position is $65,600 - $109,300. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
