About The Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Waste Services & Resource Efficiency, this role provides strategic and operational leadership of Council’s waste services. You will lead service delivery across kerbside collection, contractor performance, compliance, and customer service, while supporting continuous improvement and operational requirements.
The role has a strong people leadership focus, supervising officers and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture. You will oversee major contracts and budgets, manage procurement and tender processes, and respond to operational challenges such as service disruptions, contamination events and regulatory requirements.
You will also lead the operational requirements and key service changes in line with mandatory kerbside reforms, the development and implementation of waste strategies, circular economy initiatives and service improvements, working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors and external agencies.
About You
You are an experienced waste or service delivery leader with strong people management and contract management capability. You bring sound knowledge of waste operations, compliance and procurement, and are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational oversight.
Confident and calm under pressure, you can manage competing priorities, support team wellbeing, and engage constructively with contractors, colleagues and the community. You are motivated by delivering reliable services while supporting longer-term sustainability outcomes.
