The Application Engineer plays a critical role in solving complex technical challenges, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the effective implementation of fire protection and insulation solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with sales, specification, and project teams to develop system solutions based on project requirements.
  • Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to recommend compliant Promat product applications.
  • Prepare technical documentation, installation guides, submittals, and drawings to support project design and execution.
  • Interface with contractors, architects, engineers, and building officials to answer technical queries and resolve field issues.
  • Coordinate system testing and code compliance efforts (UL, ASTM, NFPA, IBC).
  • Support product and system approvals through testing agencies and certification bodies.
  • Deliver technical training to internal teams, customers, and distribution partners.
  • Contribute to the development of CAD drawings and engineering tools.
  • Participate in project site visits and inspections to support proper installation and system performance.

What you’ll bring:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in an application, field, or technical engineering role—preferably in construction materials, fire protection, or insulation systems.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license.
  • Strong understanding of building design processes, construction documentation, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC, UL, ASTM, NFPA).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for customer visits, job site support, and training.

Preferred:

  • Experience with passive fire protection systems or fire-rated assemblies.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and software.
  • LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable design.
