Product Manager, HVAC Equipment
Role Summary
The Product Manager is responsible for defining, managing, and executing the company’s enterprise-wide product strategy for HVAC climate solutions across all brands. This role supports a broad range of industrial environments that require reliable, efficient, and durable thermal solutions to protect people, equipment, and operations.
Reporting to the Vice President of Product Marketing, this role serves as the market-facing product owner and offering authority for general industrial applications. The Product Manager works closely with a Marketing Manager to align product strategy with product marketing and go-to-market execution, ensuring solutions are positioned effectively across diverse industrial markets and channels.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Market Leadership
- Own the product strategy across all company brands
- Serve as the offering authority for general industrial HVAC solutions
- Define market segmentation, customer profiles, applications, and value drivers across industrial environments
- Translate voice-of-customer input, channel feedback, and market intelligence into clear product strategy and priorities
- Monitor market trends, including facility electrification, energy efficiency requirements, regulatory changes, sustainability expectations, and industrial facility modernization
Target Markets and Applications
This role supports solutions serving general industrial markets, including but not limited to:
- Manufacturing and processing facilities
- Industrial plants and warehouses
- Control rooms and operational facilities
- Energy and power generation facilities
- Mining and extractive industries
- Oil and gas facilities
- Telecommunications infrastructure and network facilities
- Modular buildings and packaged industrial facilities
- Transportation and infrastructure support facilities
Road mapping and Portfolio Alignment
- Develop and maintain market-driven product roadmaps aligned with corporate growth objectives
- Identify portfolio gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for standardization or differentiation across all brands
- Support portfolio prioritization and investment decisions using market sizing, customer demand, and competitive insight
- Drive product lifecycle decisions, including new product development, line extensions, upgrades, and end-of-life planning
Stage-Gate New Product Development (NPD)
- Serve as the market and commercial owner within the company’s Stage-Gate NPD process
- Develop market requirements, business cases, and commercial justification at each stage gate
- Partner with engineering teams on Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), performance targets, and validation priorities
- Participate in gate reviews to ensure products meet customer needs, reliability expectations, and financial objectives
- Support pilot programs, early deployments, and customer validation efforts
Product Marketing and Go-to-Market Alignment
- Work closely with the Marketing Manager and the Vice President of Product Marketing to align product strategy with product marketing and go-to-market execution
- Provide product, application, and market inputs to support development of positioning, messaging, and value propositions led by Marketing
- Define offering structure, segmentation, features, benefits, and use-case applicability to enable effective go-to-market planning
- Support launch readiness by supplying product content, competitive context, and technical insight for sales tools, training, and customer-facing materials
- Partner with Marketing to align product roadmaps with launch timing, campaign planning, and channel enablement
- Ensure consistent and accurate product representation across all brands while allowing for market- and application-specific differentiation
- Support sales teams, representatives, and channel partners with product knowledge, application guidance, and pre- and post-launch support
Cross-Brand and Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the primary cross-brand product interface for general industrial markets
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain, and service teams to ensure solutions are scalable, manufacturable, and serviceable
- Represent customer and market priorities in technical, operational, and commercial trade-off decisions
- Support field teams with product, application, and competitive expertise
Competitive and Commercial Insight
- Own competitive intelligence, market sizing, and segmentation analysis for general industrial HVAC markets
- Support pricing strategy, margin targets, and value-based selling frameworks
- Provide product and market expertise for strategic accounts and key pursuits
Scope of Solutions
This role spans general industrial HVAC and climate solutions across the company, including but not limited to:
- Industrial comfort and process cooling systems
- Heavy-duty and light-duty packaged HVAC solutions
- Environmental control for industrial facilities and infrastructure
- Modular and scalable HVAC platforms for industrial use
- Energy-efficient and high-reliability climate systems for demanding environments
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field
- Five (5) or more years of experience in product management, product marketing, applications engineering, or related roles
- Experience in industrial HVAC, mission-critical environments, or engineered climate solutions
- Strong understanding of industrial customer requirements, applications, and operating environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
Preferred
- MBA or advanced technical degree
- Experience supporting multiple industrial markets or verticals
- Familiarity with portfolio-based or multi-brand organizations
- Experience working within a formal Stage-Gate New Product Development environment
