Primary Services is excited to announce the Grid Modeling Researcher role for a major energy company. This position provides an opportunity to influence the development of electricity markets and support the growth of renewable energy initiatives globally. As a Grid Modeling Researcher , you will apply your expertise in quantitative modeling, data analysis, and electricity markets to support strategic decision-making and cutting-edge research. This role involves collaborating with internal R&D teams, external research partners, and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in major U.S. electricity markets for internal partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop experimental plans and conduct methodical testing for new modeling approaches and inputs.
  • Adjust energy system modeling to account for regulatory changes and evolving market designs.
  • Perform industrial and scientific scouting on electricity market system modeling and optimization.
  • Identify and collaborate with leading research partners internally and externally.
  • Coordinate plans with internal R&D teams to align on research objectives.
  • Track project costs, milestones, and ensure the relevance of results for key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electricity power markets, including design, analysis, or optimization.
  • Strong experience with data science and quantitative analysis.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution power systems, grid innovation, or demand-side forecasting is preferred.
  • Ability to translate macro grid trends into quantitative impacts, including nodal pricing, congestion, and load curves.
  • Familiarity with grid modeling software.
  • Proficiency in French is a plus.
