HVAC Insulator – Job Description

Location: Manassas, VA with Jobsites across the DMV
Reports To: HVAC Supervisor/VP of Field Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Press Mechanical Contractors is seeking skilled HVAC Insulators to join our team. The HVAC Insulator plays a critical role in installing, insulating, and sealing HVAC systems to ensure energy efficiency, temperature control, and long-term system performance. The ideal candidate understands insulation materials and techniques and works safely and effectively in commercial and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation materials on HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and related components.
• Apply insulation jackets, blankets, fiber, foam, and other materials per specifications and industry standards.
• Seal joints, seams, and gaps using approved sealants and techniques to prevent air and heat loss.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specs to determine insulation requirements.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow company safety procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with field technicians, service crews, and supervisors to support efficient job completion.
• Ensure installed work meets quality and code requirements.
• Report material needs or jobsite issues to management promptly.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Previous experience as an HVAC Insulator or related field (preferred).
• Familiarity with insulating materials (fiberglass, foam, rigid board, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• OSHA safety training or related certifications (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
• Endurance for standing and walking throughout the workday.
