Role Overview

As a Solar Estimator at Powerfull Solar, you will be a key player in driving the financial success of our projects by preparing precise and competitive cost estimates. You'll analyze project specifications, conduct site assessments, and collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver winning proposals that align with our high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating & Proposal Development
  • Review project plans and requirements to ensure clear understanding of project scope and deliverables.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments to collect data necessary for accurate pricing.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Analyze vendor and subcontractor bids for competitiveness and compliance.
  • Craft comprehensive and compelling bid packages and proposals for clients.
  • Cost Analysis & Risk Assessment
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Factor contingencies into estimates to account for potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate historical cost data to help streamline future estimates.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to refine proposals.
  • Communicate clearly with vendors and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing and timelines.
  • Participate in client meetings to present and explain estimates and proposals.
  • Process Improvement
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and technologies to continuously improve cost estimation.
  • Recommend improvements to our estimating processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, within solar, renewable energy, or electrical construction.
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, components, and installation processes.
  • Proficient in estimating software, MS Excel, and project management tools.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Additional Requirements
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to tackle challenges creatively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Working Environment & Conditions

  • Fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving deadlines.
  • Exposure to outdoor environmental elements (site visits may require working in varied weather conditions).
  • Office setting with occasional field visits to project sites.
  • Extended hours, weekends, and overtime may be required based on project deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to conduct site visits, including climbing ladders and navigating construction environments.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Travel to job sites and client meetings as required.
