Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Planning & Scope Definition:
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and schedules.
- Ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals and client needs.
- Coordination of City Permitting:
- Research and gather information on local permitting requirements.
- Submit and track all necessary city, county, or municipal permits for solar installations.
- Liaise with city planning departments and address any concerns or requests for additional documentation.
- Maintain compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and other local regulations.
- Ensure timely submission of all required forms and documents.
- Utility Applications & Approvals:
- Coordinate with utility companies for system interconnection and approval processes.
- Submit necessary utility applications and ensure compliance with utility requirements.
- Monitor and follow up with utility companies to ensure timely approval of applications.
- Address any issues or delays that arise during the utility application process.
- Scheduling & Coordination with Inspectors:
- Schedule inspections with city and utility inspectors as required for each phase of the project.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation (e.g., permits, approvals) is available for inspectors during scheduled visits.
- Coordinate with inspectors to ensure timely completion of required inspections (e.g., electrical, structural, etc.).
- Address any issues identified by inspectors, ensuring all corrections are made in a timely manner.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and all stakeholders.
- Provide regular project updates to clients, ensuring transparency on progress, delays, and changes.
- Communicate project changes and updates to internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Manage relationships with local authorities, utility representatives, and other external stakeholders.
- Resource & Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets to ensure costs are kept within the approved budget.
- Oversee resource allocation and scheduling of labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure that project deadlines are met without compromising on quality or safety.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks or challenges during the permitting, utility, or inspection process.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and avoid delays.
- Resolve conflicts and challenges promptly, ensuring project continuity.
- Quality Control & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and safety protocols.
- Monitor project execution for quality control and adherence to the agreed-upon scope.
- Ensure all installations meet safety guidelines and pass required inspections.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of project documentation, including permits, applications, inspection reports, and approvals.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to upper management.
- Document and report any issues or changes that may affect the project schedule or budget.
- Post-Installation Support:
- Ensure that all final inspections are completed and that the project meets the completion criteria.
- Facilitate customer walkthroughs and handle any final adjustments or questions.
- Provide post-installation support, including addressing any warranty or service issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires knowledge of basic office procedures. Language ability includes reading, writing, spelling, basic math, and the ability to communicate clearly on financial and business topics in English.
Education
Required: High school or equivalent
Preferred: College, either AA or BS degree
Experience
Minimum: Two years experience in an office environment.
Preferred: Two years or more in an estimating or clerical function in the electrical construction or general construction industry.
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
The use of analytical and observational skills which demonstrate an ability to compile with reports and interact with clients in sometimes stressful situations. Must have a working knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
