About Power Direct Energy
Power Direct Energy designs and delivers energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy programs on behalf of utility partners across the country. Our team works directly with utilities, trade allies, contractors, and program participants to turn program goals into measurable energy savings and stronger customer experiences. As we continue to grow our portfolio, we're building a team of program leaders who know this industry from the inside — people who understand what it takes to run a program well because they've helped run one.
About the Role
We're hiring a Program Manager to take ownership of one or more energy efficiency, demand response, or distributed energy programs from day-to-day execution through long-term performance. This role is built for someone who has already spent a few years in the trenches of program delivery — as a Program Coordinator, Deputy Program Manager, Program Specialist, or similar — either on the utility side or with an implementer, and is ready to take full ownership of a program: setting direction, owning results, and leading the team and partners who deliver it.
You'll report to a Senior Program Manager or Director and work closely with utility clients, internal operations and data teams, and the trade ally and contractor network that touches your program every day. This is a step up in scope and accountability — from supporting a program to running one.
What You'll Do
● Own day-to-day performance of one or more assigned energy programs, including budget tracking, savings goals, and delivery timelines.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned utility clients, building trust through clear, consistent communication and responsive follow-through.
● Supervise and support program coordinators, field staff, and/or subcontractors to ensure program guidelines, quality standards, and compliance requirements are met.
● Monitor program metrics and KPIs, identify performance gaps early, and recommend or implement corrective action.
● Manage relationships with trade allies, contractors, and implementation partners, including onboarding, training, and ongoing quality oversight.
● Prepare and deliver regular program status reports, forecasts, and business reviews for both internal leadership and utility clients.
● Identify process inefficiencies and lead improvements to program operations, tools, and workflows.
● Support contract compliance, budget management, and forecasting in partnership with finance and operations teams.
● Represent Power Direct Energy professionally in client meetings, stakeholder engagements, and program reviews.
What You Bring
● 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency, demand response, or utility program delivery — as a Program Coordinator, Deputy Program Manager, Program Specialist, or in a comparable coordination/support role.
● Experience working within a utility or an implementation contractor supporting utility-sponsored programs.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-moving program environment.
● Working knowledge of energy efficiency and/or demand-side program design, delivery models, and industry terminology.
● Experience communicating directly with clients, contractors, or trade allies in a professional setting.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting program updates to clients and leadership.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with CRM or program tracking/reporting tools.
● Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, or similar) or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have
● Direct experience supervising staff, coordinators, or contractor teams.
● Experience with utility program tracking platforms or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
● Familiarity with demand response, distributed generation, or multifamily/C&I program types.
● Prior experience managing or contributing to program budgets and forecasts.
Benefits
● Medical, dental, and vision insurance
● 401(k) with 6% company match
● Unlimited vacation, sick, personal, and parental leave
● Fully remote work arrangement
● Access to professional development and training resources to support continued career growth
