Role Description The Volunteer Video Editor role is a full-time, remote position responsible for producing compelling visual content that supports the organization’s mission and programs. Day-to-day tasks include editing raw video footage into clear, engaging narratives for social media, websites, presentations, and campaign materials. The role involves adding motion graphics, titles, and simple visual effects, as well as applying basic color correction or color grading to ensure a consistent look and feel. The Volunteer Video Editor will collaborate with program leads and communications staff to understand project objectives and adapt content for different audiences and platforms. Additional responsibilities may include organizing media assets, ensuring brand consistency, and suggesting creative approaches to highlight energy, climate, and education initiatives.
Qualifications

  • Strong video editing skills, including assembling footage, trimming, sequencing, and adding audio to create coherent stories.
  • Experience with video production workflows, such as handling raw footage, basic camera formats, and exporting for various platforms.
  • Proficiency in video color grading or color correction to maintain visual consistency and enhance image quality.
  • Ability to create and integrate motion graphics and graphics (titles, lower thirds, simple animations, infographics) to support key messages.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines while working independently in a remote environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and openness to feedback and collaboration with a diverse, global team.
  • Interest in or knowledge of energy access, climate change, or sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage.
  • Prior volunteer, nonprofit, or mission-driven communications experience is beneficial but not required.
