Department: Electrical Engineering

Reports To: Associate / Senior Associate, Electrical

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Experience: 8–12+ years in MEP consulting engineering

About the Role

We are a leading consulting engineering firm specializing in the design of mechanical, electrical,

plumbing, and fire protection systems for some of the most iconic high-rise commercial buildings,

corporate headquarters, and complex urban developments in the world. We are seeking a Senior

Electrical Engineer to lead the design of large-scale electrical systems on signature commercial and Highrise projects, mentor a talented team of engineers, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, architects, and project stakeholders.

This is a senior, client-facing position for an engineer who has earned their stripes in MEP consulting and

is ready to own the electrical design narrative on landmark projects from concept through construction administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering design effort on complex commercial and high-rise projects,

including new towers, corporate interiors, and major repositioning programs.

• Develop and oversee the design of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, normal

and emergency power, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, telecommunications pathways,

grounding, and lightning protection.

• Perform and direct load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, arc-flash analysis, and voltage drop calculations using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent tools.

• Coordinate closely with utility companies on service entrance, vault, and metering requirements

for high-rise buildings, including familiarity with Con Edison and similar urban utility standards.

• Produce and review construction documents — single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel

schedules, and specifications — ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, NYC Energy Conservation

Code, ASHRAE 90.1, and applicable local amendments.

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, owners, and contractors

throughout all project phases, from schematic design through construction administration and

closeout.

• Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs; conduct site visits and punch lists; and resolve field

conditions with practical, code-compliant solutions.

• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers and designers; review their work and

contribute to their professional growth.

• Support business development by participating in project pursuits, fee proposals, and client

presentations.

• Stay current on evolving technologies, including building electrification, EV charging infrastructure, microgrids, energy storage, and resiliency strategies for high-rise environments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• 8–12+ years of progressive consulting engineering experience designing electrical systems for

commercial buildings; significant high-rise experience strongly preferred.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York State licensure preferred (or ability to

obtain within 6 months).

• Deep working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 110, NYC Electrical Code, NYC Energy

Conservation Code, and ASHRAE 90.1.

• Proven experience leading the electrical design effort on projects of $50M+ construction value

through all design phases.

• Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD; demonstrated ability to lead BIM coordination.

• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or equivalent power system modeling software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead client meetings and present technical content to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• LEED AP, WELL AP, or other recognized sustainability credential.

• Experience with mission-critical, financial trading floor, or large corporate tenant projects.

• Familiarity with daylighting, advanced lighting controls (DALI, 0–10V, networked systems), and

tunable-white systems.

• Experience designing EV charging, on-site generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or

microgrid infrastructure in dense urban environments.

What You Can Expect

• A portfolio of marquee projects — the kind of buildings that define skylines.

• A collegial, technically rigorous studio culture that values engineering excellence and craft.

• A clear path to Associate, Senior Associate, and Principal roles for those who lead well and design

well.

• Competitive base salary, performance bonus, comprehensive medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with

company match, generous PTO, and PE/CEU reimbursement.

• A hybrid work schedule, with collaborative in-office time in our New York City studio.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $145,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience, licensure, and demonstrated leadership. Final offer may exceed this range for exceptional candidates.

Total compensation also includes a discretionary annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
