- Raleigh, North Carolina
About the Opportunity
Piper Maddox is partnering with a leading global energy and sustainability organization to appoint a Business Development Manager for its growing renewable energy technology platform.
Sitting at the intersection of renewable energy, SaaS, market intelligence, and advisory services, the platform helps renewable energy developers access critical market data, strengthen their commercial strategies, understand changing market conditions, and connect with potential energy buyers.
This is a growth-focused commercial position responsible for acquiring new renewable energy developer customers and expanding the adoption of the organization’s digital, data, and advisory solutions.
The successful candidate will combine a strong new-business mentality with a practical understanding of renewable energy markets. They will be comfortable discussing PPAs and energy procurement with senior industry stakeholders while clearly communicating the commercial value of a technology-enabled platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new-logo acquisition across utility-scale and distributed-generation renewable energy developers.
- Sell memberships, SaaS solutions, market intelligence, workshops, and advisory services.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers, including C-suite executives and leaders across Origination, Development, and Commercial teams.
- Lead strategic conversations involving PPAs, renewable energy procurement, market dynamics, pricing, tariffs, foreign-exchange exposure, and RFP activity.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective developer customers, owning opportunities throughout the full sales cycle.
- Identify opportunities to expand customer adoption of digital, SaaS, data, and advisory offerings.
- Leverage existing industry relationships to uncover new commercial opportunities and introduce additional solutions.
- Partner with internal Sales, Product, Advisory, and Market Intelligence teams to develop new offerings and test creative approaches to solving customer challenges.
- Remain informed of renewable energy market developments and translate those changes into commercially relevant insights for customers.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will combine renewable energy credibility with a genuine passion for sales and business development.
This is not a traditional account-management position. The successful candidate will enjoy pursuing new business, opening new markets, developing senior-level relationships, and experimenting with new ways to create value for customers.
Candidates should be capable of discussing renewable energy markets and PPAs in one conversation and demonstrating the commercial value of a technology platform in the next. Deep technical expertise is not required, but candidates must understand the market well enough to engage credibly with renewable energy developers and Origination teams.
Relationship-building ability, emotional intelligence, curiosity, and team fit will be equally important as previous sales performance.
