Senior Development Manager
Compensation: $150,000-160,000 + bonus
Location: New York City or Denver (Hybrid)
Piper Maddox is partnered with a growing renewable energy platform focused on developing, constructing, and operating distributed generation and utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects across the U.S. As the company's portfolio continues to expand, they are looking to add a Senior Development Manager to provide technical leadership across the development organization.
This is a high-impact opportunity to serve as a senior technical resource, directly manage projects, and work closely with the Director of Development to improve execution across the portfolio. The role will help identify and solve project risks, strengthen development processes, and drive projects from early-stage feasibility through construction and COD.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight across active solar and BESS projects, identifying risks, feasibility gaps, and development issues.
- Directly manage select projects through the full development lifecycle, from site feasibility through development complete, NTP, and COD.
- Lead feasibility, interconnection, permitting, engineering, scheduling, and budget management activities.
- Manage external engineering consultants, vendors, and permitting partners to keep projects on track and within budget.
- Build and improve development standards, processes, and tools while mentoring and supporting junior developers.
- Partner with engineering, finance, construction, origination, utilities, and other stakeholders to advance projects.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of renewable energy development experience, with direct solar PV and/or BESS project management experience.
- Proven experience taking projects from origination through development complete and into pre-construction or construction.
- Strong understanding of site feasibility, interconnection, permitting, site control, engineering, scheduling, and budgets.
- Experience managing external consultants, vendors, permitting professionals, and other project stakeholders.
- Strong project scheduling, costing, and problem-solving skills, with working knowledge of solar PV and BESS design.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing team members.
