About the Company

A rapidly growing energy technology company developing advanced long‑duration energy storage solutions is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer. The organization focuses on large‑scale storage systems and balance‑of‑plant (BoP) infrastructure that support grid‑scale and distributed energy applications.

This role is ideal for an engineer who excels in cross‑functional environments and enjoys hands‑on problem solving in high‑growth, innovative settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for BESS projects, including system sizing, fuse/breaker sizing, electrical BOM creation, and installation drawings.
  • Perform or review electrical studies including CYMCAP (AC/DC ampacity), ETAP (short‑circuit, load flow/reactive power, protection coordination, arc‑flash), or equivalent tools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and external contractors to integrate energy storage systems into new and ongoing projects.
  • Develop technical specifications and design standards for BoP components such as transformers, inverters, rectifiers, switchgear, and thermal management equipment.
  • Support site layout optimization, grid interconnection, and overall plant efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct system modeling, simulations, and performance predictions for large‑scale BESS installations.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (IEEE, NFPA, UL, and local codes).
  • Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
  • Partner with procurement teams on equipment specification and supplier evaluations.
  • Review vendor proposals and design packages related to electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical integration and operational issues during development and commissioning.
  • Contribute to R&D and continuous improvement efforts for future commercial deployments.
  • Remain current on industry trends, codes, and new technologies in energy storage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Power Systems strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in large‑scale BESS, renewable energy, or related power system design.
  • Strong knowledge of battery storage technologies, grid infrastructure, and balance‑of‑plant systems.
  • Familiarity with inverters, rectifiers, transformers, switchgear, and other power electronics.
  • Experience working closely with project managers, contractors, and EPC partners.
  • Understanding of energy markets is a plus (ISO/RTO environments, grid operations, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, innovative engineering environment.

Why This Role?

You’ll join a forward‑thinking team advancing the future of long‑duration energy storage. The position offers a dynamic environment, significant technical ownership, and the opportunity to directly impact next‑generation clean‑energy infrastructure.
