Project Manager / Senior Project Manager – Electrical / Battery Energy Storage

An established and rapidly growing energy infrastructure developer is expanding its German project delivery team and is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with a strong electrical background.


The business is active in the development and delivery of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and has a significant portfolio of projects progressing across Germany. With strong financial backing and a growing development pipeline, the company is entering an exciting phase of expansion and is investing in experienced project delivery professionals.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of utility-scale BESS projects, with a particular emphasis on the electrical, grid connection and EPC elements of project execution.

You will work closely with internal engineering and development teams, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, grid stakeholders and external technical advisors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical and commercial standards.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the delivery of large-scale BESS projects from an electrical and EPC perspective.
  • Taking ownership of electrical project scopes from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and energisation.
  • Managing interfaces across HV/MV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and grid connection infrastructure.
  • Coordinating EPC contractors and electrical subcontractors.
  • Reviewing and challenging electrical designs, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Managing interfaces between BESS equipment, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, SCADA and grid infrastructure.
  • Working with grid operators and technical stakeholders on connection, compliance, testing and energisation requirements.
  • Managing project programme, budget, risk, quality and contractor performance.
  • Supporting procurement and contractor management across key electrical and EPC packages.
  • Overseeing testing, commissioning and handover activities.
  • Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to drive projects through to successful commercial operation.


About You

We are looking for an experienced electrically biased Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex energy or electrical infrastructure projects.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience delivering projects within BESS, renewable energy, power generation, grid infrastructure, substations or related electrical infrastructure.
  • A strong electrical engineering background, preferably with experience across HV/MV systems and grid-connected assets.
  • Proven experience managing projects through the full EPC lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of electrical design, equipment selection, installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience managing EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants and other technical stakeholders.
  • Exposure to grid connection and energisation processes.
  • Strong project management skills across programme, budget, risk and commercial performance.
  • The ability to engage confidently with detailed technical matters while maintaining overall project ownership.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Germany.


Northern Germany is preferred due to the current project portfolio, although location is flexible for the right candidate.
