Financial Analyst - Hamburg (Hybrid Working)

About the Company

This is an exciting opportunity to join an independent renewable energy producer with an ambitious growth strategy across Europe. The business is continuing to expand its presence in Germany following the acquisition of seven wind farms, with further growth planned across its renewable energy portfolio. The German business is entering an important phase of development, creating the opportunity to join a growing team where you can take genuine ownership and have a direct impact on the business.

The company has a collaborative, entrepreneurial and international culture, with a strong emphasis on autonomy, development and giving people responsibility. You will work closely with colleagues across Germany and France and gain exposure to senior decision-makers, while having the opportunity to develop your career across financial modelling, project development, investment analysis and asset management.

The Opportunity

The business is looking for a Financial Analyst to join its German business in Hamburg.

The role will sit within the German finance and commercial asset management team and report directly to the Head of Finance.

The German team currently consists of around 30 employees, with the finance/commercial asset management function made up of the Head of Finance, commercial asset management professionals, an accounting professional and this new Financial Analyst position.

The role will have a strong focus on financial modelling, project economics and investment analysis, while also providing exposure to project development, asset management and senior-level decision making.

You will work closely with both the German and French teams, acting as an important link between the finance functions in Germany and France.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain complex financial models for renewable energy projects and assets.
  • Carry out detailed financial analysis, simulations and scenario modelling to assess project performance and potential outcomes.
  • Analyse project economics, financial performance and key investment ratios.
  • Support the evaluation and valuation of renewable energy projects and investment opportunities.
  • Assess different project scenarios and provide clear recommendations to support commercial and investment decisions.
  • Work closely with the project development team, providing financial analysis and modelling throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support projects from development through to construction and operation, gaining exposure to the full renewable energy asset lifecycle.
  • Work alongside the commercial asset management team to analyse the performance of operational assets and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to senior stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present financial analysis and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Germany and France and act as a key finance interface between the two businesses.
  • Support ad hoc financial and commercial analysis as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience, although the level of the successful candidate can be flexible depending on their background.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to build and work with complex financial models.
  • Experience with project financial modelling and financial simulations.
  • Strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
  • Experience analysing project ratios, investment returns and project economics.
  • The ability to assess different scenarios and translate financial analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Experience working across the development-to-operation lifecycle of projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and presenting financial findings.
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across an international organisation.
  • Fluent English & German (C1/C2).

Experience in any of the following would be particularly advantageous:

  • Renewable energy
  • Wind energy
  • Solar energy
  • Infrastructure
  • Project finance
  • International finance
  • Asset management

Candidates from outside the renewable energy sector can also be considered where they have particularly strong financial modelling, simulation and investment-analysis experience.

French language skills would also be advantageous given the close interaction with the French business.

Why Join?

This is more than a traditional Financial Analyst position. You will have the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from development and investment analysis through to operational asset management.

The German business is growing, meaning the successful candidate can take on genuine responsibility and ownership rather than operating within a highly structured corporate environment.

You will also work closely with senior stakeholders and have the opportunity to influence commercial and investment decisions, providing analysis that directly supports the growth of the business.

The international nature of the role is another key attraction, with regular interaction between the German and French teams and occasional travel to Paris.

Culture & Working Environment

The business has a collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment, with an emphasis on autonomy and giving employees genuine responsibility.

The team is social and collaborative, while also offering a good level of flexibility and work-life balance.

The company places importance on professional development and mentorship, with the successful candidate able to learn directly from experienced colleagues and gain broad exposure across finance, development and asset management.
