Job Description

Company Overview:

Pioneer Energy develops and manufactures proprietary equipment that solves gas processing challenges in the oilfield by developing and deploying new, ground-up technology, specializing in the design and manufacture of skid-based packages such as crude oil stabilizers (ECT) and mechanical refrigeration units (Pegasus).

Pioneer Energy focuses on delivering innovations that address complex challenges in the oil and gas industry. It develops and introduces cutting-edge technologies to allow responsible, economic, and reliable operation of both renewable technologies and traditional hydrocarbon extractions. By leveraging creative solutions in both scale and approach, Pioneer Energy solves problems neglected by traditional approaches.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in equipment design for the oil and gas industry. This role requires proficiency in SolidWorks, including PDM, as well as a deep understanding of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessel design codes and other applicable piping codes (b31.x). The ideal candidate will be capable of producing both detailed engineering drawings and high-quality marketing-level renderings, experience with process modeling and a solid thermodynamics foundation is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and model pressure vessels, piping systems, and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks with a strong focus towards PDM.
  • Generate high-fidelity, photorealistic renderings of solid models for use in marketing and proposals.
  • Perform code-based pressure vessel design calculations using PV Elite, Compress, or similar software.
  • Interpret and apply ASME Section VIII, Division 1 standards and other relevant codes.
  • Develop and manage P&IDs using Smap3D.
  • Collaborate with the broader team to ensure mechanical designs align with process requirements.
  • Assist with documentation packages including BOMs, fabrication drawings, datasheets, and customer submittals.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including sales, manufacturing, QA/QC, and procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in mechanical design within the oil and gas equipment sector.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experience generating P&IDs with Smap3D or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with process modeling, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Ability to create professional, visually compelling 3D renderings for sales and marketing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with heat exchangers, separators, or skid-mounted systems.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards (API, ANSI, NACE).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as CounterPart and engineering change processes.

Company Description
Pioneer Energy is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that designs and builds innovative, cloud-enabled technologies to help energy producers reduce emissions while meeting production goals.

Our proprietary systems process wellhead fluids more efficiently, stabilize crude oil to meet GOR and RVP targets, and condition gas streams for in-field use. We also offer equipment that captures or eliminates emissions and turns otherwise flared or wasted streams into valuable, revenue-generating products.

All our systems are modular, skid- or trailer-mounted, and autonomous, providing oil producers with maximum flexibility, uptime, and cost-efficiency—all while staying ahead of evolving regulations.
