About the Role
We are seeking dynamic professionals to play a dual role in driving the growth and delivery of our ESG & Sustainability Practice.
The position requires an equal focus on Project Execution and Business Development with the responsibility for creating new business opportunities, building strategic client relationships, developing market-facing ESG solutions, and executing high-quality sustainability consulting engagements.
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of strong ESG domain expertise, consulting capabilities, client management skills, and commercial acumen. The individual will help organizations navigate evolving sustainability challenges while contributing significantly to the expansion and growth of the ESG practice.
The candidate should have strong understanding and hands-on experience in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting (including Scope III), Carbon Markets, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), CDP, TCFD, Climate Risk & Scenario Analysis, ESG Reporting Frameworks, ESG Strategy Development, ESG Risk Assessments, Sustainability Assurance, and broader sustainability domains including waste management, biodiversity, circular economy, water stewardship, energy efficiency, carbon neutrality, sustainable finance, and responsible business practices.
Key Responsibilities
A. ESG Advisory & Project Execution (50%)
Climate & Carbon Management
- Lead GHG inventorization across Scope I, II, and III, ensuring compliance with appropriate frameworks and standards.
- Understanding of Carbon Market.
- Drive SBTi-aligned target setting and decarbonization pathways.
- Conduct LCA to evaluate product and process-level environmental impacts.
- Provide climate advisory services on net zero planning, transition strategies, and resilience building.
- Implement TCFD-aligned climate risk assessments, including transition and physical risk scenario analysis.
ESG Reporting & Assurance
- Prepare sustainability reports, including materiality assessments, peer benchmarking, stakeholder engagement and disclosures.
- Apply and advise on leading reporting frameworks: BRSR, GRI, SASB, CSRD, TCFD, IFRS S1 & S2, and Integrated Reporting.
- Support assurance of ESG related parameters/sustainability reports under ISAE/SSAE 3000.
- Guide clients in CDP disclosures, ensuring alignment with investor and stakeholder expectations.
Strategy & Advisory
- Contribute to ESG due diligence, corporate sustainability strategy, and industry-specific advisory projects.
- Provide insights into sustainable finance, green bonds and responsible investments strategies.
- Assist organizations in responding to ESG ratings and indices (e.g., DJSI, EcoVadis).
- Research and resolve emerging client issues, including new regulations, industry practices and technologies.
Social & CSR Initiatives
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams on CSR planning and execution.
- Understanding of impact assessment methodologies
Thematic Assessments
- Conduct assessments across thematic areas such as waste management, biodiversity, energy efficiency, water, and carbon neutrality.
- Recommend solutions that balance environmental performance with economic and social outcomes.
B. Business Development & Market Growth (50%)
Client Acquisition & Business Development
- Identify, qualify, and convert ESG consulting opportunities across industries.
- Drive business development initiatives for ESG, Climate Change, Sustainability Reporting, Assurance, CSR, Responsible Business Conduct, and Sustainable Finance services.
- Build and maintain relationships with CXOs, Board Members, Sustainability Heads, ESG Officers, Risk Officers, Investor Relations teams, and CSR leaders.
- Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline and opportunity tracker.
- Conduct client meetings, workshops, capability presentations, and pitch discussions.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling ESG-related services to existing clients.
Proposal Development & Commercials
- Lead preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
- Develop solutions tailored to client sustainability challenges and business objectives.
- Respond to RFPs, RFQs, EOIs, and tender submissions.
- Participate in proposal presentations and client negotiations.
- Support commercial closure and contract finalization.
- Ensure strong conversion of opportunities into engagements.
Market Development & Thought Leadership
- Track emerging sustainability regulations, industry developments, reporting standards, and disclosure requirements.
- Develop thought leadership pieces, whitepapers, articles, newsletters, and market insights.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, webinars, roundtables, and sustainability forums.
- Contribute to brand building and market positioning initiatives.
- Identify new service offerings and growth opportunities aligned with market demand.
Strategic Alliances & Partnerships
- Build relationships with industry associations, regulators, certification bodies, rating agencies, financial institutions, and sustainability networks.
- Explore strategic partnerships with ESG technology providers, climate-tech firms, sustainability data providers, and ecosystem partners.
- Support business expansion through collaboration and alliance opportunities.
Revenue & Account Management
- Contribute towards achievement of ESG practice revenue and growth targets.
- Develop account management strategies for key clients.
- Monitor sales performance, revenue realization, and profitability.
- Drive repeat business and long-term client relationships.
- Support annual business planning and growth strategy initiatives.
