Piping Designer
Piping Designer – Contract (Houston, TX)
We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to support a long-term contract assignment based in Houston, TX (office-based). This role will provide design support for a major hydrogen processing facility currently under development in the Western U.S. The project involves a large-scale renewable energy build being executed on a previously industrial site, requiring thoughtful integration of new systems with existing infrastructure.
Position Details:
- Location: Houston, TX (office-based)
- Duration: 12–18 month contract

Responsibilities:
- Develop piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings in compliance with project standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, and I&C engineers to ensure proper integration of piping systems.
- Prepare 3D models and support clash detection reviews using industry-standard design tools.
- Generate bill of materials (BOMs) and support procurement activities.
- Review vendor data and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Support constructability reviews and provide input to field engineering teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of piping design experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or hydrogen/renewable energy facilities.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, or similar.
- Strong understanding of piping codes, standards, and materials selection.
- Experience with large-scale process facility design preferred.
- Familiarity with challenges of designing within brownfield environments and integrating new piping into existing infrastructure is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
