Sustainability Consultant (Climate & Carbon)

Purposes of the role: The Sustainability Consultant (Climate & Carbon) provides consultancy services to clients across various sectors, supporting them in understanding, measuring, managing, and reducing their environmental impacts. The consultant assists clients in developing greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, carbon footprint assessments, life cycle assessments (LCA), carbon reduction strategies, and climate-related sustainability initiatives. The role also supports the development of carbon projects and compliance with emerging market and regulatory requirements related to climate change and sustainability.

Job responsibilities:
1. Conducting site visits to client facilities and collecting operational data required for climate and carbon-related assessments, including:
• Reviewing operational processes, material flows, resource consumption, and emissions-related data.
• Supporting greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and carbon footprint assessments at organizational and product levels.
• Assisting in data collection, analysis, and calculations related to GHG emissions, carbon footprints, and environmental impacts.
• Supporting life cycle assessments (LCA) in accordance with applicable methodologies and standards.
• Assisting in the identification of emission reduction opportunities and development of decarbonization initiatives.
• Supporting the assessment and development of climate and carbon-related projects, particularly nature based solutions in agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, and land-use sectors.
• Assisting clients in understanding and responding to climate-related regulations and market requirements such as CBAM and customer sustainability requirements.
• Preparing technical reports, presentations, training materials, and other client deliverables.
• Delivering training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs for clients and stakeholders.
• Monitoring project progress and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Supporting proposal development and business growth activities through:
• Participating in proposal preparation, technical methodology development, budgeting, and project planning.
• Participating in client meetings, technical discussions, workshops, conferences, and networking activities.
• Identifying client needs and supporting the development of new consulting opportunities.
• Supporting business development activities and cross-selling of climate and carbon-related services.
• Maintaining positive client relationships and responding to client inquiries in a timely manner.
• Contributing to technical articles, case studies, marketing materials, webinars, and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Keeping abreast of developments in climate change, carbon markets, climate regulations, and industry best practices.
Job requirements:
• Diploma, college degree, or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, climate change, sustainability, agriculture, forestry, biology, energy, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or other related fields.
• At least 1–3 years of working experience in agriculture, food production, aquaculture, forestry, environmental management, sustainability consulting, climate change, carbon management, certification, auditing, or related fields.
• Exposure to one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- GHG Inventory.
- Organizational Carbon Footprint.
- Product Carbon Footprint.
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
- Carbon reduction initiatives and decarbonization planning.
- Carbon projects and carbon market mechanisms.
- CBAM and climate-related regulations.
• Strong interest in climate change, carbon management, greenhouse gas accounting, life cycle assessment, and carbon markets, with willingness to continuously develop technical expertise.
• Good quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to work with data, perform calculations, and interpret technical information.
• Knowledge of international frameworks and standards such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 14067, ISO 14040/14044, PAS 2050, CBAM, Verra/VCS, Gold Standard, or SBTi is considered an advantage.
• Fluency in Vietnamese is required.
• Good command of English, particularly for communication, proposal preparation, report writing, and reviewing technical references.
• Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset in identifying client needs and supporting business development activities.
• Willingness to travel and conduct field assessments at client sites.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and learning capabilities.
