- Compensation: $180,000 – $205,000 Base + Attractive Bonus Potential

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Development, the Director of Solar Development will lead and mentor a growing regional Solar and Hybrid Solar+Storage Development team. The incoming Director will take full ownership of an active, multi-gigawatt pipeline of existing mid- and late-stage projects across the territory.
This role is tailored for a seasoned renewable energy developer with a proven track record of managing teams and successfully shepherding utility-scale projects through final investment decisions to Notice to Proceed (NTP) and construction handover.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Pipeline & Project Leadership
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and execute a competitive, customer-centric pipeline of solar and co-located storage project investments.
- Full Lifecycle Execution: Advance mid-to-late-stage projects through critical milestones, including land use permitting, complex interconnection decision points, offtake contracts, GIAs, and EPC agreements.
- Risk & Financial Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments and business impact analyses; manage regional development budgets and allocate resources prudently to maximize project ROI.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Relations
- Internal Advisory: Provide clear direction to internal subject matter experts across engineering, environmental, underwriting, operations, tax, legal, and project finance to ensure seamless project execution.
- External Relationship Architecture: Build and sustain high-value relationships with key external stakeholders, including landowners, local officials, community members, transmission owners, and regulatory bodies.
- Executive Reporting: Prepare strategic transaction approval documentation and present deal closures directly to senior executive management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical/commercial discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in energy project development ( or 13+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree ).
- Industry Track Record: 5+ years of dedicated experience developing utility-scale renewable energy projects, with proven success shepherding assets to full construction handover.
- Market Exposure: Demonstrated project success navigating regional power markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, SPP, and/or SERC).
- Technical & Commercial Acumen: Deep knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, the interconnection process, real estate/land contracts, tax abatements, and renewable energy policies.
- Leadership: Minimum of 1+ years of experience directly managing people and leading cross-functional project teams.
- Organizational Agility: Ability to thrive in a flat, fast-paced corporate structure, multi-tasking across conflicting priorities while building strong consensus.
