About Pell Frischmann

Pell Frischmann is a specialist advisory and technical consultancy operating across the built and natural environment, helping to shape a better future for the communities in which we work. We offer consultancy services, with access to specialist sister companies and partners, to support both public and private-sector clients. We work across sectors encompassing buildings, infrastructure, and regeneration.

Originally formed in 1926, we have a unique heritage in delivering client-focused solutions that deliver value through our commercial awareness, sustainable aspirations, and innovative approach. Our distinctive future is defined by our ownership; Pell Frischmann is a part of RSBG SE, the patient capital investment arm of RAG-Stiftung. RAG-Stiftung is a foundation with the long-term public purpose to deal with the environmental and social commitments resulting from the closing of Germany’s coal mining industry. RSBG SE’s mission is to generate sustainable funds for the foundation; so, our work directly contributes to the challenge of fighting global pollution and climate change.

We think working here should feel different—in the best way. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • A genuinely local approach Our projects are delivered entirely in the UK, by locally resourced teams. That means you won’t just be observing—you’ll be right in the detail, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing quickly.
  • Real access to senior expertise You’ll work closely with experienced colleagues throughout project delivery, benefiting from continuous mentoring, guidance and knowledge-sharing as you build your career.
  • A purpose that goes beyond projects Everything we do is shaped by our Noble Purpose—we reinvest the success of our business into protecting the environment. It’s something we actively bring into how we work, think and deliver every project.
  • More than a consultant—part of the team We don’t just support our clients; we integrate with them. You’ll gain early exposure to their perspective, broadening your skillset and understanding of projects from both sides.
  • Agile, open and empowering culture We keep things straightforward—no unnecessary bureaucracy. Our culture is collaborative, innovative and pragmatic, giving everyone the opportunity to make an impact.
  • A place where ideas matter We’re constantly evolving, and innovation sits at the heart of what we do. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas forward and help shape how we deliver, no matter the size or profile of the project.

The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, you’ll play a key role within our transport planning team, delivering high-quality technical work that supports our clients across the energy, commercial and residential sectors.

You’ll primarily focus on the early stages of the planning process—from site feasibility through to planning submission—while also having the opportunity to broaden your experience through work with public sector clients, including policy development, research, innovation and stakeholder engagement.

Whilst we prefer you to be based in Scotland to be close to the team, this role is fully remote.

  • Supporting the preparation of Traffic and Transport chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments—particularly on large-scale energy and infrastructure projects such as wind farms, solar farms and battery storage schemes.
  • Producing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements to support a wide range of developments.
  • Undertaking site visits, feasibility studies and due diligence reviews from a transport perspective.

Traffic Engineering & Modelling

  • Carrying out detailed junction assessments using tools such as ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG.
  • Developing access strategies, internal layouts and highway mitigation proposals in line with DMRB and local standards.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Working closely with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engaging with local authorities and stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.

Project & Commercial Management

  • Managing project budgets, timelines and resource allocation.
  • Supporting tenders, fee proposals and the shaping of new opportunities, particularly in energy and infrastructure.

What we’re looking for

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography or a related subject.
  • Progression towards, or achievement of, Chartered status (e.g. CEng, TPP, MRTPI) is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Experience producing EIAs, Transport Assessments and CTMPs.
  • Solid understanding of UK design guidance (e.g. Manual for Streets, DMRB) and planning policy.

Sector Experience

  • Background working with private sector clients such as developers or landowners.
  • Experience in energy or infrastructure projects (e.g. renewables, grid connections) would be a real advantage.

Commercial Awareness

  • Comfortable managing budgets and delivering work to deadlines, with a strong understanding of commercial drivers.
