Pegasus Tech Ventures is seeking a highly seasoned Senior Energy Investment Partner to join our senior leadership team on a contract basis. This role requires exceptional domain expertise and a proven track record in both operating and investing within the global energy transition landscape.uda Any I ample role will play a critical role in overseeing our investment projects with our corporate partner, with a particular emphasis on driving both strategic value and superior financial returns.

Core Responsibilities (Strategic Leadership & Execution)

Investment & Transaction Management

  • Proprietary Sourcing: Proactively cultivate a robust, proprietary pipeline of late-stage investment opportunities and M&A targets in the energy sector through deep industry relationships and market intelligence.
  • Transaction Leadership: Serve as the lead partner in structuring, negotiating, and closing complex investment and acquisition transactions, including drafting and reviewing advanced legal documentation (term sheets, definitive agreements).
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Present investment recommendations and deep-dive findings clearly and persuasively to the corporate partners executive committees (EXCOs) and boards.
  • Diligence Oversight: Coordinate and direct specialized third-party legal counsel, technical advisors, and external AND conven configurations to ensure comprehensive due diligence.

Strategic & Operational Value Creation

  • Value Maximization: Oversee portfolio assets/companies to maximize operational performance, accelerate commercial synergy realization, and achieve targeted returns on invested capital (ROIC).
  • Strategic Growth: Work closely with portfolio company management teams to develop and execute multi-year strategic plans, implementing operational improvements and growth initiatives derived from deep sector experience.
  • Thesis Development: Drive the firms overall energy investment strategy, focusing on identifying next-generation market trends, competitive advantages, and proprietary investment themes within the rapidly evolving energy transition space.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a bridge between the startup ecosystem, investment bankers, and the corporate partners internal innovation and corporate development teams.

Required Qualifications bait

Experience & Domain Authority

  • _ansys year: Minimum 20+ years of progressive, senior-level experience in the global energy, power, or industrial sectors.
  • Dual Expertise (Operator & Investor): Significant leadership tenure (10+ years) as an operator within a major energy corporation (e.g., CSuite, VP of Strategy/Operations) combined with substantial experience as an investor (private equity, venture capital, or corporate development).
  • Sector Focus: Deep, demonstrable expertise and an established network across several key areas:
  • Energy Transition Infrastructure (Hydrogen, CCUS, Grid Modernization, Advanced Storage).
  • Power Generation & Renewables (Utility-Scale Solar/Wind, Power Trading, IPP Model).
  • Oil & Gas Midstream/Downstream (Refining, Petrochemicals, and Decarbonization Technologies).
  • Transaction History: Proven track record of personally leading and closing complex transactions (M&A, private equity, or large venture rounds) in the $50M $500M+ range.

Education & Professional Skills

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Engineering. An MBA, Master's degree, or CFA designation is mandatory.
  • Financial Acumen: Exceptional skills in financial modeling, valuation (LBO, DCF, Comparables), and complex transaction structuring.
  • Communication: Proven ability to communicate complex technical and financial ideas persuasively, both verbally and in highstakes written reports, to executive and boardlevel audiences.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and mentor deal teams and external advisors across international jurisdictions.
