About the Job

Peak Energy is seeking a Head of Hardware to lead all aspects of hardware development for our ESS platformincluding system, mechanical, structural, and thermal domains . You'll set the direction and drive execution across subsystem design, integration, and validation, ensuring our hardware is safe, reliable, and ready for scale. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of multiple disciplines and wants to help build a worldclass energy storage product from first principles.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for Peak's products
• Lead system design and ensure successful integration across system, mechanical, structural, and thermal domains.
• Define and maintain systemlevel requirements for HV/LV distribution, enclosures, interconnects, cooling, and protections.
• Own system modeling and engineering through requirements definition across mechanical, thermal, and structural domains to ensure cohesive, highperformance product design.
• Oversee designformanufacturability and collaborate with supply chain partners to scale production.
• Own validation testingmechanical reliability, thermal cycling, HV insulation, seismic/structural performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety and certification standards (UL, IEEE, IEC).
• Partner with software, firmware, and electronics teams to deliver seamless endtoend product integration.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary hardware team spanning electrical, mechanical, structural, and thermal engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Proven track record of delivering at scale high voltage and high power systems, energy storage systems, or comparable largescale industrial/automotive hardware.
• Expertise across electrical system design (HV/LV systems, bussing, protections), mechanical/structural design, and thermal management.
• Skilled in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and analysis tools (FEA, CFD) as well as handson prototyping and validation.
• Strong understanding of compliance, certification, and safety requirements for ESS hardware.
• Excellent communicator and team builder with the ability to align across disciplines.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling hardware teams in startups or highgrowth environments.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for ESS enclosures, interconnects, and cooling systems.
• Exposure to sodiumion, lithiumion, or other advanced battery technologies.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $215,000 - $265,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
