Job Title: Senior Financial Economist

PCL is seeking a highly experienced Financial Economist to support work in climate finance, green finance, and energy transition. This is a senior-level role for a professional with strong expertise in financial analysis, project bankability, blended finance, financial intermediation, and multi-stakeholder program management.

The selected candidate will work at the intersection of finance, clean energy, institutional strengthening, and policy engagement. The role requires close coordination with financial institutions, technical teams, public sector stakeholders, and development partners to help identify, assess, structure, and support eligible investments in priority energy transition sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management and coordination of climate finance and energy transition initiatives
  • Help originate and develop a pipeline of eligible subprojects and investment opportunities
  • Assess the suitability and financial viability of proposed investments
  • Support due diligence, financial structuring, and risk assessment for subprojects
  • Work with financial institutions and partner organizations to strengthen project preparation and appraisal
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of technical assistance and institutional capacity building activities
  • Support policy dialogue, roundtables, and knowledge events related to green finance and energy transition
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting on results, climate finance indicators, greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation metrics, and gender and inclusion indicators
  • Ensure high standards of coordination, reporting, compliance, and documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to junior consultants and contribute to team learning and knowledge products
  • Represent PCL in meetings, consultations, and relevant professional forums, as required
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, business administration, engineering, climate policy, or a related field
  • At least 15 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years of directly relevant experience
  • Strong experience in climate finance, green finance, development finance, or financial intermediation
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with banks, development finance institutions, or similar financing entities
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs or financing platforms
  • Strong understanding of energy transition sectors, such as renewable energy, energy storage, e-mobility, or related infrastructure
  • Ability to assess project bankability, financial structuring, and sector-specific risks
  • Strong leadership, planning, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience working in the Indian financial sector is highly desirable
  • Experience with international financing institutions or climate funds will be an advantage
Work Arrangement
  • Hybrid working arrangement with intermittent travel, as required
