About Pearl Edison
Company
Pearl Edison is a software-enabled general contractor for complex residential electrification and energy efficiency projects. We operate a turnkey home concierge service for our partners - utilities, governments, green lenders, community organizations, environmental champions, and anyone that wants to make more of these projects happen. We help these partners enforce quality end-to-end and maintain the trust of their customers.
We're building a game-changing software platform to manage electrification and energy efficiency projects end to end - from lead acquisition and qualification, to in-home data collection and diagnostic testing, to system design and project scoping, to post-install quality assurance. And we're building a killer operations team - supported by that software platform - to deliver these projects. We're growing fast, so the team is too.
We exist in service of homeowners. Electrification isn't easy, even if you're motivated - it's a lot of work to figure out the right scope of work, ensure a quality system design, get a fair price, find a qualified installer, and ensure best-practice install and commissioning. We help.
We exist in service of our contractor partners - in particular, contractors who do great work and win on install quality. Customer acquisition is expensive. We send our partners fully contracted, fully designed jobs. We measure our success by their improved profitability.
We exist in service of our partners - in service of their mission to make more electrification projects happen, and their commitment to serving their customers well.
We're fired up about our work because we have an opportunity to solve kitchen table problems for customers, help great contractors win, and dent climate change - win-win-win - at the same time, at scale.
Leadership
Pearl Edison was founded by Jake Yurek (CEO) and Evan Anderson (Product, Growth). You'll meet both during the hiring process.
Our team brings diverse expertise, high energy, and a passion for the product we're building and the problem we're solving.
About the Role
Overview
Pearl Edison is hiring a Head of Strategy and Partnerships. Broadly, your charge is to drive growth through our partnerships with investor-owned and municipal utilities, state and local governments, nonprofit energy efficiency lenders, community organizations, and grassroots environmental champions. You are responsible for the origination and execution of these partnerships and for ensuring that we deliver value for these partners.
Specifically, you will:
- Identify, develop, and close new strategic partnerships with utilities, governments, green lenders, and other organizations aligned with our mission
- Own the success of active partner programs - ensuring we meet commitments, exceed expectations, and drive meaningful outcomes
- Define and execute partner-facilitated marketing strategies that drive qualified leads and program success
- Shape our partnership strategy as we scale, identifying new partnership models and market opportunities
This is broader than a typical enterprise business development role. You'll work closely with our Operations team to ensure we can deliver on partner commitments, with our Product team to build partner-facing features and platforms, and with the founders to align partnership strategy with company growth objectives.
You'll be instrumental in making Pearl Edison the partner of choice for any organization that is serious about residential electrification and energy efficiency. This means understanding deeply what makes these partners tick, and building relationships grounded in trust and shared success. This means understanding deeply what makes our partnerships successful, in a concrete and data-driven way, and iterating accordingly.
You'll report directly to Pearl Edison Co-Founder, Evan.
What you're responsible for
Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead business development efforts - identifying prospects, building relationships, and closing new partnership agreements with utilities, government agencies, and other strategic partners
- Manage active partner programs including DTE, DLC, A2ZERO, and others - ensuring program success through proactive relationship management, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Define and execute partner-facilitated marketing strategies - developing marketing approaches tailored to each partner's channels and customer base, evaluating marketing productivity, and iterating based on performance data
- Product manage partner-focused features and platforms - working with our Product and Engineering teams to define requirements for partner dashboards, reporting tools, and integration capabilities
- Own partnership analytics and reporting - tracking program performance, conducting cohort analyses, and providing data-driven insights to partners and internal stakeholders
- Represent Pearl Edison externally - at industry events, in partner meetings, and in the communities we serve
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure partnership success - working closely with Operations to ensure delivery capacity, with Product to prioritize partner needs, and the founders on partnership economics
What you're accountable for
You're accountable for:
- Growing partnership revenue and expanding our partnership portfolio
- Ensuring existing partner programs meet or exceed performance targets
- Making partner-facilitated marketing channels productive and cost-effective
- Building Pearl Edison's reputation as the premier partner for residential electrification programs
- Creating scalable partnership processes and playbooks as we grow
About You
As Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Pearl Edison:
- You have a proven track record in business development, partnerships, or strategic growth roles - ideally in energy, utilities, home services, or government programs. You've closed complex, multi-stakeholder deals and managed programs to successful outcomes.
- You excel at relationship building across diverse stakeholders. You can speak the language of utility program managers, government officials, environmental advocates, and startup operators - and build trust with all of them.
- You're analytical and data-driven. You don't just close deals - you understand unit economics, can model partnership scenarios, and use data to drive decisions and demonstrate value.
- You're a strategic thinker who can also execute. You can craft a partnership strategy, sell it internally and externally, and then roll up your sleeves to make it happen.
- You have experience with marketing strategy and execution - particularly in partnership or channel marketing contexts. You understand how to make co-marketing work.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in early-stage environments. You can build the plane while flying it, and you're energized by the opportunity to shape something from the ground up.
- You communicate exceptionally well - both written and verbal. You can craft a compelling partnership proposal, deliver a persuasive pitch, and distill complex program performance into clear insights.
- You're collaborative and low-ego. You recognize that partnership success requires cross-functional alignment, and you build bridges, not silos.
- You're passionate about our mission. The opportunity to accelerate residential electrification, support great contractors, and fight climate change gets you fired up.
It's a bonus if:
- You have specific experience with utility programs, government contracting, or energy efficiency/electrification initiatives
- You've worked at or with early-stage companies in highly regulated industries
- You have experience with CRM systems, partnership platforms, and data analysis tools
- You bring an existing network of relationships in the energy, utility, or government sectors
Compensation
We provide:
- $150-180K base salary
- A competitive early-stage equity package. (If Pearl Edison does well, you'll do well.)
- A company-funded healthcare allowance (QSEHRA)
Compensation may vary based on multiple individualized factors - particularly, relevant skills, experience, and knowledge.
We are open to fully remote candidates for this role, but would prefer a candidate in one of our home markets. We are a hybrid-remote company headquartered in Detroit, and we get together as a team semi-annually in Michigan. You'll be expected to travel.
