Accounting Intern
Proposed Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly
Work Schedule: Part-Time (not to exceed 20 hours per week)
Work Location: Onsite
The Accountant Intern will support the accounting department by performing tasks accurately, applying accounting principles, obtain appropriate supporting information, and work with professional appearance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The following are primary responsibilities of the position:
- Daily:
- Enter data from discover files to excel spreadsheets:
- PO Receipt Report
- Purchase Price
- Freight File
- Review Oracle transaction statuses.
- Assist with the Accounts Payable process.
- Enter data from discover files to excel spreadsheets:
- Month End Closing:
- Inventory reconciliation, ERP module to General Ledger trial balance.
- Inventory valuation reserves.
- Journal entries and reports as assigned.
- Business Plan:
- Support the plan process by preparing schedules.
- Audit:
- Assist with preparing audit schedules supporting information.
- Other Duties:
- Review documents for appropriateness of accounting policies and company policies.
- Special projects as assigned:
- Accounting Department
- Other Departments
- Discreet with information and knowledge; extremely discreet with confidential information.
- Support accounting department activities, accurately and timely.
- Other duties may be assigned inside and outside the Accounting Department.
- Daily:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION
Accounting bachelor’s degree (B.A) or attending school (later stages) for an accounting degree.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business documents. Communicate with a professional (respectful, clear, and positive attitude) with Accounting Department employees and other team members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, percentages, multiplication, and division.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems, prepare work and explanations in a logical process.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to work with and prepare excel spreadsheets and PC skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mostly the job tasks are performed sitting at a desk, use the fingers of hands to work with computer keyboard, mouse, ten key calculator and various office machines. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, stretch overhead, and may be required to lift and move an object weighing 10 to 25 pounds. Vision ability is required by this job to read PC monitor(s), documents at a close range and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Characteristic is an office area, which requires an interaction and manner which is professional. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
