Aftersales Service Engineer, Residential Energy Storage

Maastricht, Netherlands | Full-time | Office and service centre based with regional travel

About the company

My client is a global manufacturer of residential and commercial battery energy storage systems. They design and build integrated home battery solutions, including hybrid inverters, modular battery packs, battery management systems and cloud monitoring platforms, supplied through a network of distributors and installers across Europe, Asia and beyond.

With demand for home batteries rising sharply across the Benelux, driven by changes to Dutch net metering, rising energy prices and wider adoption of dynamic tariffs, they are opening a regional hub in Maastricht. The site will operate as both an office and a service centre, with local spare parts stock, so the team can support installers and homeowners quickly and in person.

This is a founding hire for the Benelux service function, so you will help set the standard for how aftersales is delivered across the region.

Why this role

  • Join a well-funded global manufacturer at the start of its Benelux build-out
  • Shape service processes, installer relationships and ways of working from day one
  • Work hands on with the latest residential storage and hybrid inverter technology
  • Clear route to progress into a senior or lead service role as the team grows
  • Direct exposure to HQ engineering and product teams, so your feedback genuinely shapes the product

The role

As Aftersales Service Engineer, you will be the go-to technical expert for installers, distributors and end customers once systems are installed. You will diagnose and resolve issues remotely wherever possible, and get on site when needed, making sure every case is closed quickly and properly. You will also be a key voice in improving product quality and installer capability across the region.

Key responsibilities:

Technical support

  • Act as first and second line technical support for installers, distributors and end users by phone, email, ticketing system and remote monitoring
  • Diagnose faults across hybrid inverters, battery modules, BMS, communication and monitoring systems
  • Use remote monitoring platforms to analyse system data, identify root causes and push firmware updates
  • Escalate complex cases to HQ engineering with clear, well documented technical evidence

Field service

  • Carry out on-site troubleshooting, repairs, part replacements and commissioning support across the Netherlands, Belgium and nearby Germany
  • Support installers on complex or first-time installations
  • Carry out system inspections and health checks where required
  • Work safely and in line with local electrical standards and site safety requirements

Warranty and RMA

  • Manage the full RMA and warranty process, from claim assessment through to replacement and return
  • Carry out fault analysis on returned units in the Maastricht service centre
  • Maintain accurate spare parts inventory and coordinate stock with the European warehouse

Training and partner support

  • Deliver installer training on installation best practice, commissioning, monitoring apps and firmware updates
  • Create and maintain local technical guides, FAQs and troubleshooting documentation in Dutch and English
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with key installer and distributor partners

Reporting and continuous improvement

  • Log all cases, site visits and resolutions accurately in the CRM and service system
  • Track recurring issues and report quality trends to product and engineering teams
  • Contribute to KPIs on response time, first time fix rate and customer satisfaction
  • Help build and improve service processes as the Benelux hub scales

What you will bring:

  • Solid understanding of residential PV and battery systems, including hybrid inverters, battery modules and BMS
  • Confident with LV electrical fault finding, multimeters and diagnostic tools
  • Comfortable using remote monitoring platforms, ticketing systems and CRM tools

Personal attributes

  • Customer focused, patient and calm under pressure
  • Logical, methodical problem solver
  • Organised and able to manage multiple open cases at once
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a new, growing team
