About the position
ORPC is at a turning point in Alaska, and we are looking for a strategic leader to join our team. As our Director of Development, you won’t just be managing projects; you will be spearheading our expansion. We are on the brink of developing several transformative projects that will redefine energy independence for remote communities, and we need a leader with a "closer’s mindset" to turn these prospects into reality.
Based in Anchorage, you will be the face of ORPC across the state—from the halls of government to the heart of remote tribal communities. This is a role for a relationship-builder, a sophisticated negotiator, and a team-grower who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments.
What You’ll Do
Drive Growth : Own the Alaskan project pipeline. You will identify, nurture, and close the business prospects that fuel our mission.
Build Your Team : As our footprint grows, so will our local presence. You will work closely with HR to recruit and develop a high-performing team tailored to the unique needs of the region.
Forge Strategic Partnerships : Build deep-rooted, respectful relationships with Alaska Native Corporations, tribal organizations, and village energy cooperatives.
Navigate the Landscape : Masterfully guide projects through complex federal and state funding environments (DOE, AEA) and regulatory pathways.
Lead with Integrity : Instill a proactive safety culture and a spirit of collaboration across multiple cultures and time zones.
Qualifications
- A proven track record (5+ years) in energy project development and a "sales mindset" that finds a path to "yes" in complex scenarios.
- You understand the rural energy landscape, from the nuances of the PCE program to the cultural significance of tribal sovereignty.
- You have at least 5 years of experience leading teams and a natural ability to communicate across diverse audiences.
- You are passionate about sustainable impact and are ready to travel to the most remote corners of the state to make it happen.
